Insane Bad Beat

It was 2 handed, I raised the pot pre-flop, and the other player called.

I was dealt: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet the pot, going all-in, he calls.

Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
River: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Other Players Hand:

3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He catches the only card in the deck to make his straight-flush, beating my full-house, and winning the tourney.

Anyone have a worse beat?

You've got to be kidding. You were barely even a favorite to win. Not only was this not "insane," but his play was almost unquestionably correct.

This was no more a bad beat than AK beating 55 in hold'em.

I\'ll indulge ya

I once smooth called a potsize raise preflop from the button w/ AAxx double suited. Three took a flop of ATT w/ 2 hearts. EP bets, original raiser moves in and I quickly call (setting me in). EP folds... he shows down JJKK double suited (yes hearts) and the turn was the Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for the royal. Lucky I had just sat in or I could have lost a lot more than one buy-in.

You're beat wasn't that bad though... it does suck to lose a tourney like that.

Re: Insane Bad Beat

Not runner runner quads but:

Me: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Board: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
River: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Beat by quads. The best part was the pot bet that he called on the turn. Glad it was a tourney and not cash.

When you went all in you didn't have the house. You weren't even that much of a favourite.
