Why is Pokerstars so tight?

It comes to my mind that stars doesnt offer a affiliate program. So most of the players come to the site that have already played poker in their lifetime.

Maybe it would be much better they would offer some other casino games or a franchised casino site like black jack and roulette to attract more fish to the poker games?

Pokerstars, don't care about the fish..(only we do).
They care about their software, bonusses and support.

But you are totally right..almost no fish there.

For some the average-player there is sharks and for some it's fish. It all depends on how good you are.

If you look you will find bad players from no-limit holdem games up to 3-6. The limit holdem games are not that inviting, though I saw a good 15-30 limit holdem game at one time I looked, while 1-2 and 2-4 shorthanded limit holdem games did not look tough either (the 2-4 shorthanded used to be like 3-6 before). So, with selected play it looks good enough (though I would not pay the limit rakes until the game is simply awesome, or you are a high limit player), and they have a top software (for top players) and one should look into tournaments there too, though one can not usually choose who one is playing against at tournaments.

I honestly don't see how people say there are no fish at stars.. NLHE game results below.. Granted this call was questionable, but u play with players so long u get a feel. This player dropped 300 to the table I was at roughly.. If not more... I will admit without him and another player (I will be keeping his name a SECRET) at 5/10 NLHE I wouldn't have had a good night at all... Ended up + 650 for about 8 hours of play though varying levels... 1/2 that time or more spent at NLHE HU Trny Tables. Two 2 table HU trnys I won for $20 buyins, a few more $20's a couple $10's to test the water... And two $50's (1-1)

Knew that one was coming... this guy bet small every time he had a hand for an hour in a row... He bet out huge 3 times, and none of the times the bettiong pattern made sense (what he did preflop vs flop). I was the only one with the balls to make a call finally.. And to be honest I did misread him, I put him on a flush draw.

Pokerstars is VERY beatable. I'm beating every level of NL there for good amounts, and my brother is destroying the 5/10 and 10/20 full and short limit ring games. Game selection helps, and there are plenty of good games at all hours of every day.

Re: Why is Pokerstars so tight?

there have to be better times to call his big bet....even against a mega-fish.

for the record....my first site was stars...i played there for a few months before ever playing anywhere else.
at the time i did NOT know how to play hold-em, i kept thinking a flush was better than a full-house (i was playing omaha/8 quite a bit), i didn't know what an SNG was, and i didn't know what the little 'NL' or 'PL' next to the betting amounts for the table meant.

i was definitely a player you wanted at your table.

sorry you guys missed your chance. i still have my moments of fishyness (incorrect plays) but i like to think i'm a slightly better player then i was then....at least my results seem to indicate that i'm better.
you can blame S&M and all the fine folks at 2+2.

the reason i played at pokerstars as a mega-fish?? it was the first site that i noticed in my google-search of 'online poker'

anyway, yes the players are tighter there. but i have found fish (not unlike my former self) there as well.

Re: Why is Pokerstars so tight?

I agree with what has been mentioned. I played the 2/4 short games, while playing a deposit bonus and killed them. It was my first time playing at Poker Stars and I was hestitant but the depsosit bonus was too great to ignore. The Omaha Hilo pot limit games are incredible at Stars, unreal... Ya so... find the right table and if you have some skill, Poker Stars will be good to you.
