probability question.

If there is a 33.1% chance an event will happen, what are the chances that it will not occur 17 times in a row?

Re: probability question.

Since there is a .331 chance that an event happens (100% = 1), the probability it does not happen is 1-.331 = .669 (because an event either happens or doesn't happen so P(event) + P(no event) = 1).

To not happen 17 times in a row, assuming independence, the probability would be .669^17 = 0.001077 or .1077%, about 1/928.5
