Cheap MTT\'s

Hi,

Recently I got into MTT. I found many of the cheap MTT buy-in's appealing such as the 1 or 2 dollar ones that are on PartyPoker and Pokerstars where you can 1000x your buyin. I played on a couple of them and lost, are they really worth the trouble? or should I go into a little more expensive MTT's.

Well, consider this, the average $1 PokerStars
MTT takes 5-6 Hours to finish, at least 4 hours,
to the final table, and 1st place usually only
offers $50-100, so even assuming you overcome
the odds, how do you value your time?

Depends really. If you have a smaller bank roll and winning one of those would be great for your bankroll then I dont see a problem at all. But as someone previously said, you only win about 50-100 bucks for more than a few hours work.

So what should i do?
should i just pratice on 5+.5 MTT becuase of my small bankroll or start with SnG's and move my way up the ladder?

Read some books, play different types of games. Go with what feels best and beatable.

Re: Cheap MTT\'s

Depends on your Skills, but I started with a
$5 bankroll on Stars and played MicroLimits
until I made it to $30 or so, and then I
started playing the $5 SnG while playing
a low limit table at the same time, that way
even if I busted in the SnG I could still
recover the money from the ring table. Ring
table skills help a lot in tourneys, so start
with the .5/.10 cent tables if your at Stars,
with any skill you can make a $2-4/hour there
and build your bankroll, and if your worried
about getting schooled, play Omaha 8 instead
of Hold em because you will almost always be
playing with the nuts.

Just my advice, Im sure others have different ideas
as well. Oh, and I waited till I had $100 before I
started playing the $10 MTTs (while also playing a
$.5/1 of course)

Play the $5.50 sngo's mainly... and.. play the $3 rebuy for the $215 T$... a $3 rebuy for the $T will pay about 30 or so most 9pm games. Win a $215 and then continue playing sngo's.

U should still play a few cheap mtt's - for the experience.. but... don't waste time on too many of them

You can also try the 1.00 sngs that are 5 tables.

Faster than regular Low limit MTTs but play more like a MTT then a sng.

I forgot about the $1 +.20 at Stars, they
just created those. I played a couple, takes
about 2 hours to finish one, but pretty easy
to beat if you know what your doing, 1st place
pays $14, down to 7th which pays $2, field of
45, most of which are maniacal aggro.

Re: Cheap MTT\'s

If you want some cheap MTT experience but don't want to waste 5 hours, don't play the cheap tourneys at the huge sites like Party and Stars. Go to Interpoker, Absolute, Bodog - middle size places like that.

If you want to play cheap just to build a bankroll, there are much better ways than playing cheap MTT's. Go to www.bonuswhores.com and get to work!
