Party $109 - Do you play this the same?

Hey guys, will you take a look at this hand? I reasoned that, with 2nd pair with weak kicker, I could represent the flush by calling the flop and then betting the turn. If he called on the turn, there was still a chance I could win the hand, but I thought that there was also a decent shot that he'd fold, afraid of betting into a flush with a small stack. Is this a reasonable move for me to make?

Thanks,

BM

Too fancy - you have trash.

Fold preflop. Fold flop.

You don't complete with any two here?

I don't complete here and I don't think alot of top players do with any two either. To make a play like this you need to have a read IMO. Too many fish making idiotic calls to try and bluff a random opponent without a read. Also, you have someone left to act behind you who is getting great odds and may come along on the flop throwing your whole plan out the window. You have to do this sort of stuff for a reason.

Hey bigt, thanks for takin' the time to answer what, in all honesty, are probably questions that are too simple for someone trying to play 100s. I did alright in 50s, albeit with a small sample size, and am seeing how I can do in the 100s. I might get nuked, but it'll be a learning experience at least, right? Anyhow, I think my posts are boring people to tears, so I appreciate your responses...

The "HH" says that seat 3 is button; that makes you the SB. Which means that BB still to act...Your "dilemma" is nonsense because you shouldn't have been in the hand to see the flop

Yea, the way I’ve always viewed situations like this is that I’m only paying 15 chips to try and catch a lucky flop (top 2 pair) and possibly take a bunch of chips, assuming that the BB only checks. In this particular situation, it’s clear that I got carried away after I didn’t catch that miracle flop, but it sounds like you guys are advocating not even bothering to pay the 15 to see the flop. I guess this is a leak that I have to plug.
