88 UTG, 10BB stack

Playing in a 50NL multi on Party, about 150 left I think, top 60 or so paid. Table seems fairly tight, 9-10 handed. I have a 10 BB stack, but am utg so blinds will hit me soon. I receive 88 and push all in. Comments?

I would fold. I know that whenever you start falling below 10 X bb it is time to start looking for a hand. However, I'm just not sure pushing is the right thing to due UTG into 9 players with 88. If I was MP and the 1st in the pot, I would push.

I would rather take a chance and wait a little longer and wait for better position to push.

Agree with fold I think (or at least not push), although it's true you may not see better for a long time, if ever. The goal is to eventually double up off someone, and I'd be surprised if it will happen here unless a guy with AK and chips to spare called (and you win a race). Otherwise, I think you can guarantee any call will be from a pocket pair stronger than 88.

I limp and hope for a raise so i can move all-in. Any ragged flop i move-in on. If there is a set better just trap...I really think this 10xbb rule has gotten to be taken way too seriously your not on life suppoirt here.

Pushing is about expected value even. There is about a 20% chance you get called by a bigger pair, when you lose an average of 5 BBs. Otherwise you gain an average of about 1.5 BBs chips picking up the blinds or being called by overcards. I calculate you average up 0.2 BBs.

Limping is best if the table is fairly loose passive and if you are an above average player at the table.
