Tom Brokaw\'s poker references

Tom just said that the dems were hoping for an "inside straight" to with North Carolina, since Edwards is from that state. However they did not invest heavily to win there. Interesting analogy... do you think TB is a player?

Yeah, are you sure this was Brokaw and are you sure you were watching NBC? I was watching ABC and the little dude with the bow tie said winning the election without getting any southern states would be like hitting and inside straight. Maybe they both said something about it...

Someone said on CNN that blah blah hitting flush on river. Cool!

James Carville is the 2nd one to use the \"inside straight\" reference

and he said it twice in 1 minute.

I think James Carville was the first one to compare Kerry's chances to an inside straight last night. He was also the first Democrat to concede the election on national TV. I think his wife has trained him well.

It was Carville who first made the referece and then everyone around him started repeating it instead of using other generic phrases like "longshot"
