Another Quick Ram Post
Would have thrown this in Choice's thread but didnt want to hijack it.
Have a few year old Dimension 4500 with 512 mb ram and want to kick it up to a gig. But I'm looking at the spec sheet here obtained from dell and it says the max ram I can have is a gig, and if I buy another 512, that would be 1.24, is this a problem or what? I'm clueless about a lot of this stuff. Crucial and Corsair seems to be recommended here, what's a good place to pick it up, newegg? tigerdirect? Thanks a lot guys. |
Re: Another Quick Ram Post
512mb+512mb=1024mb=1gb so another 512 would work yes. Corsair value series from newegg is not a bad option no.
This should work fine, I would however contact them to make sure. |

Sounds good, tyvm.

Re: Another Quick Ram Post
one thing to keep in mind though, your computer may only have 2 slots for ram, and may be using 2 x 256, if this is the case, you'll need 2 512's and not just one to get to a gig.

Re: Another Quick Ram Post
Thanks for the headsup, I opened her up yesterday and there's two slots, one currently used one open so I think I should be good. I was worried about that though.
