I've heard of Empire, Partypoker, etc, but everything said about the sites on this forum is usually about bonuses or rakes. Is Pokerroom any good?
Im just looking for a good site to start out at. Thanks.
(Also, how secure and safe is online play??)

Pokerroom is fine, the software kind of sucks, but it's a decent site. If you're going to deposit at least 500 you should probably check yout www.empire500.com. (http://www.empire500.com.) Either that or see what kind of rakeback you can get from affiliates here.

Paradise Poker (www.paradisepoker.com) is a good choice to start because their software and customer service are impeccable. It will take a little while to get acclimated to playing online, so it's good to start at a place where your questions will get answered fast and you won't run into software bugs. There is also a lot of player traffic, so you'll always be able to find a game at the limits you want.

I would reccomend the Empire500 Bonus also, so don't worry too much about getting a 20% rake rebate, soon the best cardrooms will be giving 100% rebate to everyone.

I started off at party poker and won a little but it was too hard to win consistently cause of the dumbasses on there. On pokerstars i cashed in with $50 and have made about 3K so far. It seems like they have some smart players but also stupid players that you can take money from, so its a good balance, and you can usually read the smart players. Also, they have penny tables to start off but also have high stakes.
