Why did you bet the turn and check the river? Did you put someone on a K just because they called a turn bet from the button?

Your turn/river play are inconsistent..

Not sure I agree with that.

I'm a sicko and I bet the river.

I'm really surprised that you didn't.

Bet the river for value? Or with 3 opponents is the calling K out there enough to make this bad?

Well the obvious reply is bet the river, but I'm sure you were expecting to hear that. So what I'd like to hear is your reasons for checking it through...

Definitely not. Easy river bet.

You're against 2 opponents, not 3. UTG+1 missed his draw.

CO's bet/CC is questionable but it's probably a 9, or possibly a pair and a draw. SB is an unknown.

So, yeah, I bet this river, because there's only one player here whose hand I'm not sure about and he cold called preflop and on the flop with his likely pair of fours or whatever it is people this bad have. If he did that with KJ, good for him.

If you're behind to someone, can you still bet the river for
a) you possible have the best hand, and
b) the times you don't have the best hand, the potential extra callers might make up for it?

I bet the turn, knowing there was a chance I was already behind, to take a free showdown. I planned to bet a king or if I improved to a straight or a set.

When these guys show absolutely no resistance to the turn bet I think you gotta bet this river. You should check out this thread, a pretty smart guy wrote it: Inducing a bluff on the end. if you were behind with an overpair, then why did everyone check to you on the turn? that doesn't make sense to me.

I so want to be original on this one, but I can't be...

Bet the river.

All the best,

Colgin

P.S. I think you have the best hand a good deal of the time here and wil get called by worse hands.

Hero didn't have an overpair on the turn.
I think Hero bet UTG+1, unless he's a passive player that got afraid that his 2 pair might be beat by Hero's turned set, but I seriously doubt it. I'd say UTG+1 has a draw of some kind, or flopped top pair. I think Hero decided to go with a free showdown since someone that turned top pair with a K might be a bit too afraid to bet/raise it given the action so far. Some players go into this check-call mode after a lot of aggression on any street.

The thing though, is that Hero has a good chance of being ahead I think, so even if he's behind, the potential extra callers he might get on the river may make up for the times he's behind, if he choose to bet. Those 2 facts added together make a river bet a must, I think.

I really think you have to bet this river especially on partypoker. A lot of worse hands will call.

Nobody is going to bet the turn when the king hits, even if they have a king, unless they have at least two pair. Remember, hero raised preflop, so he has AK.

How did you know you were behind? After the standard 3-bet on the flop, no one shows any resistance to you again. One of the keys of this hand is that no one checkraised your turn bet. You should be ahead in this situation a majority of the time, unless you are up against some very passive players.

I didn't know I was behind, but I did know there was a CHANCE I was behind.

Anyway obvious the conventional is to bet the river here, and I did know that. FWIW he did have 67.
