For those that enjoy the greatest American writer some book suggestions:

The Bachelor Years (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0385237022/qid=1088780531/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_5/103-9612797-3067836?v=glance&s=books)

Excellent book that lays out Sam's early formative years in great detail. Explains much about the man.

An Illustrated Biography (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0375405615/qid=1088780755/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/103-9612797-3067836?v=glance&s=books)

From the Kens Burns special about Twain, great photos, well written, and with some interesting side articles about Twain's continuing influence. Deals a lot with his family life, which was somewhat tragic.

Life as I Find It (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index%3Dbooks%26field-keywords%3DLife%2520as%2520I%2520find%2520it/103-9612797-3067836)

This is a unique collection of essays, speeches, letters and newpaper interviews that is well worth having. Compilied by Charles Neider (the editor of Twain's autobiography). There is a very interesting foward that deals with Mark Twain, Censorship, the Russians, Clara (Twain's daughter), and Neider's attempts to get things published (circa 1960).

Collected Tales....Essays (http://www.loa.org/volume.jsp?RequestID=83)

This is a two volume set that is a marvelous and definitive collection of Twains shorter writtings and covers his entire career from 1852 to 1910. Really a must have.

The Quotable Mark Twain (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0809229870/qid=1088784120/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-9612797-3067836?v=glance&s=books)

'His Essential Aphorisms, Witticisms, & Concise Opinions.' Done with style and fully documented with a bibliography.

I've always been partial to the travel writings and my favorite is his autobiography. I believe Sredni's favorite is A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.

I actually saw a player in a 40-80 game a few weeks back reading Huckleberry Finn at the table!

I hope you pointed out that Huck Finn is a virulently racist book. As such, it has been banned from most of this country's finest school systems.

A small snippet of Twain's work is included in the recent compilation of Poker short stories aptly named "Read em and Weep" which is a great read if you're a Poker enthusiast.
