I've been playing a lot of party 10/1. This was a hand I played head to head tonight. Looking for advice for playing hands like this in head to head.

An additional comment: I believe I should have gone all-in preflop or on the flop.

Yeah, He should raise or fold. He calls, push.

I believe standard 2+2 doctrine says to go all-in here with only 7 BB left in your stack preflop. You almost certainly should have done this.

Having failed to go all-in preflop, an all-in check-raise on the flop seems like the right play. If he fails to bet it for you, the free card you're giving him doesn't hurt you too much since your set is such a strong hand heads-up. Then you can push the turn.

Button (The Other Guy) calls t250, Our Hero raises all-in .

As you seem to know, you should have pushed pre-flop. No need to let this clown limp with 86s and catch a 6 to beat you. with BB at 500, there's no reason not to be pushing here.

Assuming you see the flop, the checkraise is fine, but don't half-ass it. Shove it all in.

raise stronger on the flop because of the straight draw with jq he could have been playing or 2 pair turning drawing better

what were the results by the way? i'm guessing he had k10/kj, and you took the pot with a set right?

I lost the pot to a diamond flush, which is why I realized I should have been all-in long before the turn.
