Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 7/images/graemlins/club.gif, 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, Hero calls, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks,

Flop: (5 SB) 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 3/images/graemlins/club.gif, 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, Button calls, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 folds.

Turn: (3.50 BB) 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

River: (5.50 BB) A/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 7.50 BB
Main Pot: 7.50 BB, between Hero and Button.

I think the turn/river action was wrong given that I bet out the flop. Betting out the flop may not be a great idea because of the 8, and small chance of improvement for my 7's.

Why'd you check the turn?

So I'd have something to post here. =)

I'm not exactly sure. I think I remember getting scared of the 8 on the flop, and thinking I might have been betting the guy's hand for him. It wasn't to induce a bluff on the river, I'm pretty sure this guy wasn't going to bet a worse hand if checked to, in hindsight.

However, how much better is betting, check-raising, or folding the turn?

Once you're heads up, I'd bet at both the turn and the river and swear a little bit if he raised me when the ace fell.

Hmm... are you bluffing or value-betting against overcards?

Value betting.

It's hard to say, because by checking the turn you don't know if he started betting because he coudln't C/R you or because he thought he could push you around. But holding a pair on that flop heads up would make me plenty happy.

I see. He ended up having 99, an unfortunate result. However, I should've been more aggressive in the hand.

I'm with Dids. I'd bet the flop, the turn and albeit reluctantly, the river. You can't fear an 8,3,3,4 board while holding 77, especially once the blinds folded to your flop bet.

BTW, I think he should've raised your flop bet.
