Looking for any suggestions on playing this hand...
NLH
88 on the button
Loose player raises 10 $12 preflop. I Call.

Flop is A85 rainbow.
Preflop raiser bets $20 - I call intending to checkraise the turn.
Turn is K. He now checks - I bet $50 - He calls.
River is 7.
He checks - I bet $50 again - he calls, turns over 77.

Now, I'm thinking that at least that money will be coming back my way, until he gets up and leaves 2 minutes later.

Should I have played this differently?

As I read the board you have 888AK as your final 5 card hand, beating your opponents hand of 777AK... am I mis-reading it or was there a typo???

What am I missing here?

Board is a rainbow AK875, and he has pocket 7's. You have pocket 8's. So, a set of 8's still beats a set of 7's, right?

You also might want to look into your plan of check raising when you're last to act.

Edit: well, at least 3 people didn't beat me to it /images/graemlins/smile.gif

"Now, I'm thinking that at least that money will be coming back my way, until he gets up and leaves 2 minutes later."

this implies that you lost. did you give this guy the pot? you know that you had the winning hand, right?
was it supposed to be turn 7, river 7? flop of a 8 7 ?

Sorry about the mistake - the 8s and 7s are reversed - i had the 7s, he rivered his 3rd 8

So he called a $50 turn bet on a board of AK75???? with pocket 8's??? No wonder you figured that you would make your money back from him later. I think you played it fine BTW.. better luck next time.

You should have realized that the river 8 made him a better set and check folded the river. You're obviously new to the game.
