I would bet more on the flop, between $12 and $15 probably. Then if he comes over the top of you, you can be reasonably sure that he has an ace, and can fold. The problem with betting only $5 is that you appear weak, (and your hand is somewhat weak, with the ace out there now), and invite a bluff from an aggressive player.

That ace has to be trouble. It puts you in an extremely difficult situation IMO. If you bet the pot on the flop, you might just get called down, making the turn that much harder or you might get raised, meaning that a pot size bet is as good as gone. If you bet small (as you did), you look weak and might be taken advantage of if he has a decent read on you. If you don't bet, you again look weak.

Regardless, given your choices, I make this laydown and I can't say that I would have played it differently.

Edit: On second thought, bet the pot on the flop. You can at least represent AK here.

What happened to $2/$4 PS?

I concur with the majority, betting more on the flop makes the laydown easier. That said, being that he made a small raise and then called your re-raise, I think it's extremely likely he has a medium-large ace, and it's a good laydown.

I bet about $13 here, if he raises, get out. If he calls, check/fold.

I am finishing off the bonus at Party. I will be back at Stars in a couple of days.

BTW, did I mention that I hate Party? /images/graemlins/grin.gif
