Hi,
Just hoping to get some insight from some of you seasoned players (and some thoughts from some of the newbies too) regarding how texas hold'em is different from some of the other games like draw poker, 7-stud, omaha, and their hi/lo variants. What I'm interested in is how they compare in terms of variance, how difficult the game is to master, in what ways it's different in terms of the skills you need. Just looking for comparisons to hold'em because I'm learning hold'em but am really interested in diversifying to make myself a well rounded card player.

For instance, I've heard that the variance is higher with stud, and I'd imagine it requires brutally good memory skills since you're spotting up to 7 new up-cards on the table each round, on top of people who fold turning theirs over. It must work you over when you're trying to calculate odds, I'd imagine.

Anyhow, I'd love to hear some insight. Thanks!
