Want to ask about the turn play ... UTG+2 springing to life and betting out set off warning bells, but with trips I felt I had to raise, then call down. Can I slow down here, or would that be too tight? (Or was I too tight anyway?)

Standard play all the way around.

Do you routinely call small suited connectors on the button in this situation? Plenty of limpers in front, but I tend to be leary of 32s to 54s for sure, and in practice don't often call below 98s (or maybe 87s). Am I giving up too much by not playing these?

With this amount of limpers I would say yes. I read the title of the post and thought I was gonna be making a "fold pre" type response until I saw it was 8 to the flop. IMO you can play any suited connectors with 5 limpers to the button in a loose/passive game and even any 1 gappers.

Played perfectly well. That turn 3 bet is bad news but folding trips online is inadvisable for the most part.
