View Full Version : another absolute re-load (expires Wednesday)

just got this e-mail from absolute.

i still have $370 left in bonus-money to clear over there.
now they throw this at me.
i also included info on the 35% first-timers deposit in July (which i assume is for 'new' players only).

however, if you can afford to, you would be better making the first-time deposit now for 20% AND take advantage of the reload available Tuesday and Wednesday only.
still, that 35% bonus in july may work better for someone who is short on funds.

-------------------------------------------

30% Deposit Bonus on ALL deposits for 2 days only!!!
Starting at Noon Eastern Tuesday, June 29th, and continuing until 10 PM Eastern Wednesday, June 30th, make any size deposit and receive a 30% deposit bonus up to a maximum of $200 total during this period.

Make your first-time deposit during the month of July and receive a whopping 35% 1st time deposit bonus up to a maximum of $210! Use any one of our deposit-friendly methods and deposit from $25 to $600.

Well I had removed a good chunk of roll from Absolute since the quick death of rakefree 6/12. But I guess they can have a little back for some free $200.

Am I the only one that is getting a bad feeling about Absolute?.

MicroBob

unfortunately, i have already made $1500 in deposits there in the past couple weeks via neteller (for their previous bonuses)....
their 30-day limit is $2000.

so i can only deposit $500 via neteller....which gets me most of the bonus but not all of it.

1 of 3 things will happen for me...
- they will increase my deposit limit for neteller as i just requested in an e-mail
- i will deposit $700 straight from my bank to get the full bonus....even though i'm not sure i really want to do that...
- i will deposit only $500 from neteller to get most of the bonus...

I would imagine yes.

Just seems like one of the secondary tier sites trying to aggressively recruit players by giving tons of bonus money out.

If only they'd get some PLO games going I'd play on there.

MicroBob

do you have anything to justify this idea??
i see your point but i'm just wondering if you have any other knowledge besides the obvious (that they are offering a lot of reloads of late).

personally, i see them doing whatever they can to try to generate new business.

remember, this isn't exactly money they are 'giving' us. it's really more of a nice rake-rebate.

they are offering to let players essentially play 'for free' (or near-free) in hopes that they will stick around on their site.

if there are more reasons why i should be concerned then by all means let me know.

perhaps it's just new management/marketing mixing things up. they did recently change their bonus-policy afterall.

Nothing concrete aside from too many bonuses too often.

MicroBob

UB has been doing the same thing. one re-load after another.

just trying to draw in more players by offering a few-hours of (virtually) rake-free play.

i agree that the traffic there kind of sucks.
after midnight, it's not uncommon for the 2/4 and 3/6 games to shut down.

right now there is a single 1/2 game....
there are a couple of 2/4 games going....one of them is 28% SF with pot-avg of $8.70

the highest limit going is 5 players on a 5/10 game.
the only NL games going are $0.25.

however, there are a ton of players in the fake-money games.....so there is SOME potential there is some of these players decide to take the plunge and deposit some funds.

their freerolls fill-up to 1000 players or so pretty darn fast.

I dont think it's worth diverting your attention to play for bonuses in a room with such poor game selection. The pot averages are anemic.

Do you need to have received an email to get this one?

Is it on their website?

I haven't seen anything.

MicroBob

i just had a guy check-raise with me his A5o on a board of Q544 (i had KQ).
he bet out again on the river.

i don't know if the pot-avg's are accurate or not....but i've found enough lousy players to make it interesting.

there is no expiration date on the bonus-dollars and i'm doing quite well there so far.
if they EVER build a player base then it will be very nice.

until then...i clear the bonus-$$ there if i continue to like it....or i can totally ditch it and leave the bonus-dollars behind if i change my mind (and will still have the bonus-dollars waiting for me).

i just had another hand on a different table that was capped PF taken by a guy with 92s (couple of 2's on the flop) which cost me a bit since i stuck around with my JJ.

MicroBob

just log onto the casino.

the info is scrolling at the bottom of the main-lobby page.

they got back to me and increased my deposit-limit for TODAY only so that i could put in the full $700.
normally i like to deposit and cash-out right away....but for now i might be pulling out some of profits a little bit at a time since i can't deposit again on neteller for awhile.

anyway, i now have $560 in bonus-dough to clear there.
the software is slow, but the games are definately better than UB or Stars at the limits i play at anyway.

if you aren't a small-time 1/2-3/6 player like me then this site is probably not worth your time i think.

Is this on top of the 40% $100 max bonus for "humpday" promotion?

If so that $300 in bonus for $950 in deposits

I believe the Humpday promotion expired in mid june, well before anyone got the newsletter it was printed on.

I could swear it said it expired 7/14. I will double check when I get home.

Now that they've done away with the 30 day requirement, does Absolute allow you to deposit then withdraw before clearing the bonus without forfeiting it?

MicroBob
06-29-2004, 06:50 PM
you have to wait 48 hours from your last deposit before you can cash-out.

other than that...you can deposit and cash-out as you like and still keep the bonus-dollars.

i don't know a thing about this hump-day promotion thing.
but i still have $540 in bonuses left (having cleared the first $60) so i think i'm set over there for now.

Just to verify. Humpday bonus offer expires JULY 14th at 11:59 pm. Must email promotions@absolutepoker.com with a subject line reading "Humpday 40%" and "Level 3" and also listing you AP#. Must deposit min of $250. Max bonus is $100 so basically you have to deposit 250 and that will give you the $100 bonus.

So you can deposit 700 today or tomorrow for the the $200 bonus and then deposit $250 next Wednesday for the $100 Humpday bonus.

ok I'm falling for this....Just deposited $667 for the 30% bonus and I'll deposit $250 next wednesday..thnx microbob and JD these bonuses are too big ($300)to not go for it.I also see a nice juicy $2-4 LHE game currently..BUT what really got me to come back are the big guaranteed tournies on July.01 and July.04, $7K and $4K respectively.

I once had a wallet sized card with my Absolute AP# but I lost that half a year ago.Any idea what one does if you dont have your AP#?

thnx Lee

LOL....i would have been better off telling goodguy to stay the hell away from my games, afterall...that juicy 2/4 game that you see also happens to be the ONLY 2/4 game (except for the 5-player one)...
but happy bonus-chasing nonetheless.
as i said before...if the games really do suck, there's nothing that says we have to finish clearing the bonus.

i sometimes wonder if it's just the 2+2'ers who are taking advantage of these bonus offers.

i didn't know about the hump-day thing. another couple hundred possible....but i can't make any more deposits there via neteller for a little while because i have reached my max for the month.

what a pain.

if i wanted to 'hump-away' on absolute i would have to put it on my bank-account check-card thing which i really try to avoid doing. we'll see how i feel about it tomorrow.

with $540 to go in bonus-cash there and several hundred waiting for me on UB (especially if i decide i like their SNG's) there's a chance i'll just take my total of $600 in bonus-money and be happy with that.

i'm more concerned with the software then i am with the quality of the games. it is really getting sluggish for me when i'm playing 3 tables and it wasn't really a problem for me last week when i first signed up.

NO NO NO!!!

get away from my tables!!!!

can someone please go spam the party tables and get some of their players to come on over??
i don't want to be stuck at a table of all 2+2'ers.

This is certainly true lately as more and more 2+2ers try to clear the bonus. Nothing like three or four of us at the same table with the $20 buy in fishies. Now in the "is this good news or bad news" category, the rake structure there is bad enough that even these pots qualify toward clearing the bonus.

LOL.
pretty funny observation.

again....the jury is still out on whether it is worthwhile playing there even with all these bonuses....
but if this site grows....or just gets a little fishier...i'll have my bonus-money there waiting for me.

the two 3/6 games have both gone short.
now they have three 3/6 games with 4,4 and 3 players respectively.
they have two 2/4 games with 9 and 5 players seated.

really a tough time keeping these games going.

maybe i can build my overall bankroll at the other places and feel more comfortable clearing some of this off at the 5/10 games where there are three tables of 9,8 and 8.

About how many .5/1 games are there during normal weeknight hours? Any sense on how the play is at that level?

They may be a longshot to become one of the big players in the online poker market, but they're quite good (better than some of the bigger names) about speedy cashouts, so it would appear that our money isn't in immediate danger of disappearing there.
