Ok, i have been playing poker for about a year and think i have a firm grasp on hand rankings, position, pot odds, implied odds, etc. I am going to AC in a few days and will be staying at the Tropicana...I have never played in a real casino. I mostly just play online and in my home game once a week and pretty much only no limit. My question is, what am i to expect at the Tropicana? If i play no limit, am i very likely going to be playing with 8 pro's? Should i start at the limit tables instead? If limit, what kind of bankroll should i have for a certain limit? Are there things to look at in terms of the table you sit at? Thanks in advance.

You should be fine at the lower limit tables. I only play 2/4 and 3/6 and I can assure you no pros, mostly just people who play almost any 2 card check and call all but the strongest or weakest of hands. Very easy to beat aside from the rake which will most likely put you at about break even at worst overall.

Playing live is fun, and the players are generally terrible. Check out the Borgata for a nice room and a $300 max buy in NL game with 1/2 blinds. I watched the game a bit and it seems rather soft.

Id suggest if you play NL more often you should play that as you will be in your element. The games at the Trop are good, but sometimes when there are must move games, the main game will be a bunch of rocks who bet big and aggresive. If you find yourself in that situation I suggest you get up (leave the game) go get a snack or something, and go back into one of the must move games.

Id also suggest you buy in short, 100-150 and not the full 300 till you are comfortable.
