Why not CR the flop? You know the bet wont get many out you're worried about, I guess a CR on the flop might not either.

I think betting the flop is better because we don't really have any idea where a bet might come from.

If someone in late position had raised before the flop, (and our hero had called), I think a check-raise would be the play to make though.
