Was going all in after the first all in correct to make it heads up? Or should I have just called?

You should go all-in. You want a hand with an Ace to have to pay to beat you. If the stacks were deeper you could consider calling and raising the flop if SB bets into you as expected and an Ace doesn't flop, but with the small stacks he's pot committed so you raise right away to get all the money in pre-flop.
