i have been multi tabling for the last few months. I always played with the factory standard resolution. so i always had a little overlap. it would get rather annoying if i played more than two tables. so today i played with the settings and tryed the "more" setting, all the way to the left on the scale. and i actually like it, it makes everything so much smaller, but two tables almost fit entirely, it still has a little overlap, but much better. the only problem now is that i have to almost squint to read the cards, lol.. its not bad.. but what do most of you guys do?? thanks.

1600x1200. 4 Poker Stars table fit perfectly with no overlap. Big monitors help.

i don't know what operating system you are using that has 'more' and has you sliding it 'all the way to the left'.

my screen-res axes out at 1400x1050 which is pretty good for 4-tables. a little overlap...but not too much.

i may splurge for a new montior in the future that go up to 1900 or something for 'super-tabling'.
right now, my 2nd monitor is a piece of junk...but it still comes in handy for adding a 5th and/or 6th table as well as 2+2 and e-mail, etc.

Same here. I've got a 17 inch monitor with a Geforce 4 video card that came with the computer, I can fit two stars tables with a tiiiiny overlap. I've never really tried to fit more because I only play two at a time. Though I'm sure I could fit for with a bit of overlap, but not too bad.

yah, but what i hate is that it makes your online pages so small, i guess you could go back and forth and keep changing it. but this new set up is much easier to play two tables with. my game actually feels better with less confusion.

Do you mean when you're not playing as opposed to when you're playing? I change it back and forth every time I play, only takes a second. The only other thing I usually do when playing is either listen to music and winamp and maybe chat on msn a bit - thus far, the resolution hasn't affected either of those.

I recommend increasing the text size in your web browser if you are talking only about the text. High resolution large text is actually easier to read than low resolution normal sized text. Either increase the minimum text size in your options menu or under your view menu there is an increase text size action. The latter doesn't work quite as well as the first but it is easier to find. (I think I made my instructions with IE in mind, but the instructions should be very similar or the same for other web browsing programs such as firefox or opera).

What windows version you have doesn't matter; it's about what kind of monitor or laptop screen you have, combined with what kind of video card you have.

You can buy 19 inch monitors dirt cheap now, and all but the ones so cheap you can hardly find them will usually do 1600 x 1200, which easily fits four tables. For instance, I have a no-name GEM monitor that I got for like $220 a couple of years ago on sale, and now they go for 40 bucks less pretty frequently on sales, and I think I've seen 19-inchers for even cheaper than that.

If you keep your refresh rate on your monitor very high, though, you can burn out a super-cheap monitor at too high a resolution.

Be careful going to high resolutions that your monitor can handle it the refresh rate, or you can burn it out very quickly. For instance, a monitor that is set at 800 x 600 with a refresh rate of 75 or 80 hertz that is adjusted upward to 1600 x 1200 with the same refresh rate might burn out right away. Read up on what your monitor can handle, if you can find the info.

Use 2 monitors. I have 2 19" flat panels. It's cheaper than a huge monitor, and you can surf, read e-mail, etc on the other monitor if you aren't 20 tabling. NT and XP both support it quite well.

DVI looks way better, fwiw.

I think I got a $30 second pci video card, with dvi, and it's more than fine for poker graphics.

As a heads-up for anyone that frequently switches between monitor resolutions, MultiRes (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/multires.shtm) is a great program that keeps a little icon in the menu bar that allows you to do so on the fly.

Oh yeah, it's free. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
