The guy was pissed and had every right to be, but was I wrong to stay in after this flop? inside straight draw with backdoor flush potential. My intention was to take 1 card off and see what the turn brought.

Course not. You're getting 7-1 on the flop, thats plenty for a gutshot + backdoor flush + 3 aces, and thats if you think ace high isn't good here. The turn is an easy call or raise as well.
