I was playing in a live MTT yesterday that had about 45 players. I had built up my stack to about t5500. The blinds were 200/400, there are 5 players at my table, and 5 left at the other remaining table. I am delt AKo. I raise UTG to 800, and get called by two players, UTG+1 (who had about t1600, and BB who had about t7000. Flop comes 8 9 Q rainbow.
I push in. That was my mistake.
UTG+1 folds, and I get called by the BB--an additional 4700!
I turn over my AK and I see that he has K9 H.
My first impression is, what the hell is he doing calling me with only 2nd pair? Of course, I don't hit my ace.
I was pretty mad, especially since I had to this point won 100% of my showdowns, and only shown strong hands.
