This is from a B&M Casino. 1-3 Spread Limit (2 $1 live blinds, additional bets and raises can be from $1-$3 on every street). 8-Handed. Usually very loose-passive, but players don't like to call the big raise. Stole blinds with KQo from UTG a couple hands earlier. My bets are strangely getting respect.

Hero is dealt A /images/graemlins/club.gif8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

All fold to LP, LP limps, Hero raises to $4, SB calls, BB folds, LP calls.

LP is loose-passive and sighed as he threw his $1 chip in pre-flop. He is not an actor so this is a reliable tell that he has a poor hand. I figure I am therefore against 2 random hands and a poor hand. SB is also loose and slightly aggressive.

Flop: 2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 3 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 5 /images/graemlins/club.gif

SB checks, LP checks, Hero bets $3, SB folds, LP sighs and calls.

Turn: A /images/graemlins/spade.gif

LP bets $3, Hero raises to $6, LP calls all-in

My "further reflection" was that I should have had an easy fold to the turn bet. At the time I assumed there were plenty of hands he could have made that he would bet into me here that I beat. After thinking about it, I realize this isn't really true. I think the only hands he could have at this point that I am ahead of are A-6 or A-7. Any other Ace is two-pair or outkicks me. Any 4 gives the straight.

Results: LP flips Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif for the turned straight.

At the time I thought of this as solely a bad beat, but after thinking it over it was really a pretty easy fold on the turn.
