I'm just curious if anyone remembers how many times in a row they've ever lost with AA or KK. I think I'm between 10-12 as of right now. Not exactly sure. I don't think this is a very long streak at all, but it got me wondering.

10 in a row is a huge long streak - what are you talking about.

I was at 8 once.

That's a long streak. AA should be winning around 75%+ of the time, so a streak of 10 losers is 1/4 ^ 10 which is ridiculous.... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Even KK should be 65%+ so 10 losers is 1/3 ^ 10 which is also ridiculous... /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Maybe you're giving up too soon? Folding preflop? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I got KK 3 out of 4 consecutive hands last night and won only once. I then got JJ two hands later and lost to a rivered Q.

I expect to lose with JJ. I've only got a 36.74 win rate with that hand.

I've gotten more than half a dozen AA or KK losses in a row before. More important, I've got combos of the two and other great hands losing many times in a row, even if not those particular two. I've sat for more than five hours a number of times in live casino play without winning a hand.

I koow last night I had AA and KK busted twice in three hands...

A/A in the pocket and raised 200, CALLED W/ 3/9 off..

Flops hits 9 J 3

K/K in the pocket...guy hits straight at the river...

That's a pretty long streak. Assuming that you get dealt each an equal number of times, and that my PT stats aren't unusual (win ~70% with AA, I think 55% with KK if my memory is accurate), the probability of losing 10 consecutive times is like 0.0055%.

I don't have the hand history (well i just dont wanna hunt for it), but last night i got AA one of my first hands at a table. Raise preflop in early position... 5 callers.

Flop is 777

I raise my ass off all the way through the hand. The River is even an Ace!

I lost 11 big bets on that hand. Some moron called my preflop raise with J7 offsuit.

It happens. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I lost AA exactly 10 times in a row a couple of years ago, I posted it here at that time. It started with 7 in a row during the same session (I was single tabling then), then 3 more the next day before I finally got them to hold up.

So nice to have company in my misery. I did not win a single KK, AKs or AKo last night. Rags on the flops. Bet and raised all the way, and each time lost on the river to a flush.

Just the other day, I had AA UTG, and lost. Next hand, KK in the BB, and lost. Next hand, JJ in the SB. Lost. It happens.

The interesting thing to me about stories like this, is that it really speaks volumes about the volatility in this game, and the effect of this volatility on bankroll requirements. In the three hands above, I think I lost between 8 and 10 big bets, in a 6-12 game. If you are winning 2 big bets per hour, that is potentially 5 hours of work evaporated in 3 hands. Mentally and financially, this can be tough. It takes some serious discipline to avoid this having an effect on you, putting you on tilt.

KK is my white whale hand. Never win with them and too stuborn (stupid?) to lay them down.

I'm not sure if I've ever lost with either hand 10 in a row. I play live so my stats aren't that detailed.

But, last week in a 9 hour session, I got and lost with AA 4 out of 4 times. The funny thing is that I had KK 4 times as well, and KK won every time even when an A showed up on the board.

Go figure.
