Technically I'm in but not really awake at the moment. /images/graemlins/smile.gif good luck to others playing

had KK against AA in the first 10 minutes, flopped a king

had QTs, flop was QT8, eliminated some guy with QJ

had K3 in the SB, completed for no particular reason, flop was 433, turn K

that's what it takes for me to survive the first hour... hopefully more of the same in the second!

Hanging in there barely

Was down to 400 with blinds at 50-100 and more than tripled up...still below avg but in there.

I take it back Im out...got all in on the flop with AJ vs 99 on a board of QT8. Turn J, river J.

Oh well went all in with 9s and some guy decided calling with AT was a good play.

fnurt

dealt AKs in the BB. UTG goes all-in for about 2k, folded to me with 3500. Seems like an fold to me but having seen this kind of bet with AQ, AJ, AT too many times, I talk myself into a call. He has TT but I get a lucky K on the turn so... still hanging in there!

fnurt
06-24-2004, 11:46 PM
AKo in MP, blinds are 200/400. One limper to me, I make it 1500, folded around to limper who calls. Flop is QTx with 2 hearts... ugh. Someone told me to be aggressive heads-up so I bet 1200 and he folds. I always wonder if I am supposed to check behind on that flop though...

KJo in BB. Miniraise from EP, all fold to me. I hate to call even a miniraise with this hand because it is such a trap, but I throw in the extra 400. Flop is Q98, all diamonds. I have the Jd.

Since I don't want to bleed a lot of chips trying to bluff at this flop, I check and he checks behind. Turn is a magical T. I bet 1200, he raises all-in. Could he have flopped a flush? I call and he shows AJ (no diamond). Out he goes and I have T13000 now.

AKo again, this time in LP. Same limper to me, I make it 1500, again he is the only caller. Flop is 764. I bet 1500, this time he calls.

Turn is an ugly 5. Check, check.

River is a much nicer K. He makes a suspicious-looking min bet of 400, I call. He shows A5. Heh! T16000 now with about 110 players left.

I like to bet the flop hoping to get a fold. If he calls, then check 4th street(or fold if he bets)

I lose a tragic pot when I flop the nut flush but someone hits a 2-out straight flush on the turn. Still at T11000 with about 90 left.

Unfortunately there are a lot of big stacks at my table so it will be hard to make much of bubble time, but we'll see!

No fun on the bubble so far. I get J9s on the button, folded to me, I win the blinds. Next hand I get A9o, folded to me again, I hate raising the blinds 2 hands in a row but what can I do? Sure enough, SB cold-calls and bets out on a flop that utterly misses me, I have to fold.

Two hands later I get AJo, folded to me, I raise, cold call from LP, flop is... 999?! I bet 2k, raised to 4k, I have to fold. Chilling at T4500, yay for bubble time.

Me too....perhaps this discussion belongs in the psychology forum, but does anyone else feel this way? On the other hand, theres no better feeling than when that 2nd hand you have aces and want a caller.

This has happened to me during a NL cash game. First three hands at the table were AA,KK,AA. I raised each of them pretty big. First two I got no callers, third time somebody reraised me all in. I called, other person had AJ and was just tired of me "pushing around" the table, lol /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

81 players left. I was in 2nd to last position, but short stack doulbed up and now I'm dead last in the whole tourney. And only 80 spots pay! I've got 1514, though, with blinds at 500/1000, so hopefully someone will go out while I hold on for dear life.

I have 2321, still on the bubble with 81 left. Blinds are 500/1000, I raise all-in UTG. What do you suppose my hand is?

BB charitably calls me with A6o and I double up. Still going to be hard to advance much further but at least I have a shot!

fnurt
06-25-2004, 01:02 AM
Folded to me with QQ in MP, short stack is in BB. I raise all-in, button raises, BB has no choice but to toss the rest in.

Button shows 77, BB has 87o, so I like my QQ. Flop is QQ4...

fnurt
06-25-2004, 02:21 AM
16 players left, I am still short stacked with 14k, I push from MP with 66 since the blinds look likely to fold. Oops, I didn't notice the big stack UTG had limped. He calls and turns over KQs... but my pair holds up. As you can see it's all skill at this point in the tournament. Still hanging on with 14 players left.

fnurt
06-25-2004, 02:48 AM
I make some more money coming over the top of a stealer with KK, then next BB I get dealt 22. Blinds at 3000/6000, big stack raises to 14500, I have about 40k left after posting.

I don't think I quite have odds to call for a set, but it's close, and it's likely I can also win on a number of raggy flops. I call and luck out with a flop of 542, check-raise all in, he calls with KQo, suddenly I'm the chip leader at the table.

I bleed off a little when I call two short-stacked all-ins with 99 from the BB and one of them makes quads, but I'm still in the thick of it with 12 remaining.

That was the most suspicious limp ever! But even if you put your opponent on AA, you still have to run him down...

How I finished in 3rd place this tournament is anyone's guess. Thanks to the 2+2ers for all the support!

fnurt,
I was playing in $50 SNG's last night, but when it got near the bubble I kept your table on my screen for something to do when my game wasn't interesting.
Saw you go all in UTG with AA right on the bubble (81 left, 80 get paid) and double up, then saw you triple up a few hands latter with QQ in MP and flopping quads......from the bubble to 3rd, gotta do a tourney report!
Nice work!

woodguy

Lucky....maybe. But it was his opponent's mistake that did it to him. You simply can't limp late in the tourney with monster hands because its too risky.

Nice going. I followed you for a little bit when you were down in the depths--at around 30 left or so--and saw the start of your comeback. Well done to get to third.
