I already googled it and came up with a bunch of answers which didn't make any sense or were just plain wrong.

Q7o is not the closest to 50% win rate against a random hand, for example. J5s is.

This was figured out a long time ago on a pathetic computer system. The results were completely inaccurate, but the computer did churn out Q7o as the average hand. Or, the monkeys reading the data did, I don't know.

I think it was less about average win rate and more about average holding, a slight distinction at best. I had heard in the past that J5s and Q7o were both neck and neck heads up vs a random hand.

While J5s is 50.0% heads-up in terms of equity, Q7o is 49.9% in terms of winning the hand (51.8% equity).

I know you know about this page.... (http://www.gocee.com/poker/he_ev_hand.html)

a couple weeks ago someone in a poker room told me it was called computer hand because in a gah-jillion simulated hands Q7 showed up more than any other pair on the flop, not necessarily referring to the winningness of the starting hand. just what I heard... /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

This reminds me of the guy who said he preferred to play spades as opposed to other suited cards because he heard they were more likely to hit the flush.

hahaha.. what an idiot.

it's obviously diamonds that make more flushes.

You're killing my ROI by giving all away these secrets. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Actually it's hearts.

I don't believe an explanation is required, it's pretty obvious.

i know the odds of any 2 cards showing on the flop are the same for all combos. but what the guy was saying is that in the simulation Q7 showed up together on the flop more than any other 2 card combinations. not flopped 2 pair for someone or whatever and won the hand. just showed up the most in a particular simulation the most and that someone called Q7 the computer hand because of it. now how many trials the sim was etc i don't know, and it could be totally incorrect, just thought i'd share what someone told me since someone thought the topic was worthy of a post.

I had a player tell me a few weeks ago that the order of the cards on the flop affects whether or not the flush will come. For example if the two cards of the same suit are the first two, last two, etc.

I think he's onto something.

That would be caused by a bias in the RNG seed used by the computer that came up with the results.
