View Full Version : 2500$ in 25 days

I've always liked to set up goals for myself. For example Squat X pounds within x days, run X km within X minutues, etc. I also for some reason like making schemes for alot of things, like weightlifting or other forms of training. (which you will notice soon)

So now I'm doing this quest somewhat inspired by others. I'm doing it for myself, but also everyone interrested (I atlest enjoy reading others quests)

Unlike the 60 000$ in 60 days quest this is probably not as fascinating since the goal is only 10%/day compared to him but I do believe this could be interresting to all new players starting off at lower limits.

My background:
Alot of sports, soccer for 10 years, rifleshooting for 12 years were I've won 2 swedish junior championship gold medals, (Im 19 years old btw), weightlifting and some golf.
Right now I'm doing my military service in the swedish marine as a sniper. Poker background is playing with friends an average of 5h/week the last 6 months, studying HPFAP and ITH, read alot on the 2+2 forums and the ITH forum, internet articles, played freerolls (march-may) and real money since may.

I'm up 500$ since i started (200 on Party and 300 on Pacific). I have only been able to play on weekends tho because of the military service. We have 3½ weeks off starting on thursday this week so thats why I'm able to do this quest.

The plan:
Being vacation and the fact that i live near the beach (one minute walk), i wont really be playing 24/7. When the weather is good (note: Sweden, where I live, is NOT the north pole, we do have warm weather here, especially in the south) I'll spend time at the beach or playing golf/beach volleyball etc.
I'm also moving to my own apartment during the vacation which will take some time away from the tables. And finally I'm out of my military service in 2 months and will then immidiatly start studying computer engineering for 4½ years. This will take some time preparing for etc.
Adding sleeping, eating and walking the dog to what I just mentioned the remaining time will be spent playing poker.

I will play 4 tables at once on Party Poker. Having played Quake, Starcraft and Warcraft at a very high level and the fact that I've spent way too much time infront of the computer since i was 6(!) I have absolutely no problem playing 4 tables. Ofcourse I don't know all 36 opponents inside out but with people leaving and entering games all the time I dont really know the players that well even at only one table. So with my style of play (mathematical mostly, not so much "playing the players") I believe playing 4 full tables is the best way. If I had 2 monitors I'd probably play 6-8 tables but thats a later quest. (Right now im playing with a 19' monitor at 1600x1200 that fits in 4 party poker windows without overlapping).

Bankroll/Limit plan:
So I wont make too big jumps in limits I'm gonna use this system.
I will sit down at each table with the standard buy-in (25$ for 0,5/1, 50$ for 1/2 etc) then have enough money to be able to buy in one more time at all tables.
Example: 4 tables of 1/2 requires (4x50)x2=400$

I will however to make the transactions between limits smoother for the bankroll and also for adapting to new limits, not jump limit at all tables at the same time. I will never play more than 2 different limits tho.
Using the previous system:
If I have 350$ I will play one table of 0,5/1 and threee tables of 1/2 ((25+3x50)x2)=350

Another example: 1000$ = Two tables of 3/6 and two tables of 2/4. ((100x2+150x2)x2 = 1000$

Everyday I will give an update with how many days, "table hours" (1 hour at 4 tables= 4 hours), hands played, money balance, hand examples, what went good/bad, and probably alot of questions for everyone out there reading.

The quest starts in 2 days when I come home. I play in Sweden so the updates may come in at strange hours but thats the way it is. I'll post this quest both on ITH and 2+2 to get as much response as possibly. Hope noone finds this disturbing. The content I write will be the same but ofcourse different replies at the different forums.

Thanks //Kjell201 @ Party

this is very similar to my goal of $2500 this month. unfortunatley, i am gonna come up a little short unless a crazy rush comes up this week/next week. good luck with your goal. i want to point out that the weekend games are probably twice as profitable as most weekday games, so be ready for slightly better play during the week. make sure that you still put in the hours on the weekends.

What is your starting bankroll? Will you start at .5/1? I believe if you put in 4 hours a day at .5/1 with 4 tables and have a pretty solid game, you should be able to make around $44 on average/day. (I took these numbers off my stats of 4.72 BB/100 and 2.76 BB/HR at .5/1) If you you plan on starting with $300 which is the bankroll for .5/1 it would take you just under 7 days to reach the bankroll for 1/2 of $600. That's a little under a week and only at a profit of $300 which is -$450 behind schedule (not counting the $300 you start with).

Do you plan on playing more than 4 hours everyday for 25 days? This sounds like an interesting quest and good luck! Forgive me if my numbers are off by a bit.

they are off.

you didn't make exactly 2.76 bb/hr every single hour, there will be fluctuations which could last say...more than a day?

Well duh, of course there will be fluctuations...but when it's all said and done that's his winrate. When he sits down, that's what he's making...whether he happens to lose or anythign, that's his hourly rate.

I'm not sure if I got this right but, you plan to put all your money on the tables at all times? (if im wrong, im sorry i misinterpreted) What if, you have a bad day and lose your buy ins? That would mean you couldn't continue?

you would be playing at MUCH to high a level for your bankroll to sustain much fluctuation.
(if i'm understanding your plan correctly).

a 300BB bankroll is recommended for each level.

thus, you should ahve $1200 before you start to play 2/4
and $1800 before you start to play 3/6.

you don't HAVE to live within these requirements....but you will be putting yourself at greater risk of ruin....

$100/day is do-able at the 1/2 level the whole way (although if you only have $300 to start then that is only 150BB).

1/2 if you're a bit lucky and/or pretty decent too...
1/2 X 1.5BB/hr X 4 tables = $12/hr X 8 hrs = $96

not quite $100....but close enough...play 8:20 a day instead of 8:00 (or win 1.6BB/hr instead of 1.5) to make up the difference.

good luck.

If you think that earning around $7/ day is a living then you are right. In Sweden every male ( women only if they choose to) have an obligation to do military service and what we get is $7/day, food and somewhere to sleep... And in the military you shall be glad if that is a room or tent.

This is a 200BB bankroll, which should be sufficient to handle most fluctuations. 300BB is recommended, but for a short run where you're hoping to make spare cash, it's sufficient. Just be willing to go broke, or step down in limits if your bankroll falls too much.

MicroBob
06-24-2004, 12:20 AM
but his later plan calls for sitting at a couple 3/6 tables with only $1k....which is less than 200BB.

i agree that it's not the worst sin in the world.
you are living on the edge a little bit more.....but if you are aware of and okay with the increased risk-of-ruin involved with this plan then it's all hunky-dorey.

That sounds doable. I should get me one of these quests...putting in the hours is tough.
