Seems so.

Is the flop call correct with this highly coordinated board and big field? It looks so easy to make a second-best hand or get outdrawn on the river. Aside from the obvious flush and straight possibilities, A9/A8/99/88 are all common limping hands.

The turn is awkward as you may very well have the best hand. SB could have a pair + straight draw, flopped two pair, or K9-J9. BB could easily be protecting an ace. Either or both could have a club as reinforcement.

You also could be in terrible trouble with about 2-4 outs and facing further raises. There are many cards you don't want to see. I think your fold is fine.

I would feel really uncomfortable about this situation even if the turn ace were red. You can't expect an ace to hit this large field and not get some heat. That brings me back to the beginning. I think the trouble started when you called the flop.

I think he posted and got a free look at the flop when it was never raised pre-flop.

Not what I said. I'm discussing the flop call with BPTK.

This is certainly not an auto-call, and the coordinated flop was troublesome. But getting 12:1, having good position, and closing the action on the flop, I decided calling here was reasonable.

In the long run the call/fold decision on the flop are probabaly very nearly even, with the slight edge to folding if my gut is right, but even if calling was slightly better its not by much and calling can lead you into messy situations like this one and increases variance on very marginal calls, so Id've folded on the flop, but definitely folded the turn.

Just my 2 cents,
