Reading all the posts about people winning seats into the big one at the WSOP, I was wondering how some of you fellow 2+2ers did. I know that the Fossilman won the championship
(congrats Greg on a job terrificly done), but how about some other people's success and not just in the championship event; any big winners in other WSOP tournys?

I, Yaser Al-Keliddar, finished 126th place for $15,000. I won my seat on Stars. I know Snakehead (Brett Ehart) finished 64th for $30,000. Diplomat finished not far from the money.

I got 16th in the $2500 Limit Event for $4300. I didn't do the main event. This was the 1st event I'd ever done in the WSOP.

i did not play in any of the events and, consequently, did not place in the money either.

I didn't enter, didn't win or lose. But, I will watch it on TV most intensely, and shuffle my chips to give me the real feel of being there.

Then I can throw a temper tantrum at myself and pretend that Hellmuth's at my table.

I entered three or four on-line super satellites, and did not win any seats.

I Magithighs made it to Monday (Day 2) and finished approx. 1100. I entered Monday with a paltry 4100 chips. One guy was busting my chops all day on Day 1. I was really pissed off, until I found out it was Al Krux (final table/pro). I got about 10 years worth of lessons in one day -- and, I won't be wearing sun glasses next year!

On Day 2, the first orbit, I'm on the button (after going through the blinds) I pushed in my remaning 3200 chips with 24o. The Small Blind called me with K9 and was happy, until a four dropped on the flop and no help for him on the turn/riv. So, with the added blind/ante I now have approx. 9000 chips.

I decide I need to be a tad more selective on my next double up attempt. I have KJ and bet half my stack. Everyone folds and the big blind pushes in (approx. 26k stack). I happily call, as I feel he wants me to fold and is holding a small pocket.

He turns over TT and I'm happy with my KJ. Alas, I didn't maket this double up attempt! Had I made it, I would have been in awesome shape. Shoulda, coulda -- dammit, it's gambling!

As I mention, I got ten years experience in one day with Al Krux. I would have preferred other pros as opponents, but as it turns out, I'll be much better prepared for next year!

Cheers

I did excellent in the WSOP, probably made 300 "GREG'S JUST DOUBLED UP" posts.

I bought in and lost my money uneventfully.

I know this isn't a strategy forum, but next time, just raise all-in from the beginning if you intend to call an all-in raise. He still would have called in this case, but it is a better play in long-run.

Appreciate the suggestion -- really. Yes, I thought about pushing all-in. Her'e my thought process.

I was in early MP. I needed to double up badly -- it was my only shot at getting through the day. I needed to get it heads up. I was first in.

I wanted a heads up confrontation with a small pocket pair. I wanted to dump the hand if one of the medium stacks behind me went all-in, with a giant stack raising him as well.

So, as they say, be careful what you ask for. I got the confrontation and fell on the wrong side of the slightly weighted coin.

As I think about this, I'm liking your suggestion more. It would have given me more of maniac image, and there may have been a chance of the tens folding. But, I wanted a second chance if I wasn't in a "good situation".

Cheers

Hi,

I finished around 550th for 0$. But I did finish in the money in two bracelet events (though barely, just covered the buy-in for those events, one 67th, one 17th.

Greets, Erd.
