View Full Version : Go for another check-raise, or was my play adequate?

Fairly normal 10-20 game at Foxwoods, only one guy at the table I really recognize, but I've been playing lots of different hours at lots of different stakes so, this isn't that unusual.

I'm in the Small Blind.

UTG open raises to $20.

Two callers.

I look down and see A /images/graemlins/spade.gif A /images/graemlins/club.gif and make it $30

Big Blind folds.

UTG calls, as do the two other callers.

Pot: $130

Flop:

J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 3 /images/graemlins/heart.gif

I check.

UTG bets $10

1 caller

Next guy raises to $20

I check-raise to $30

UTG calls.

1st guy folds

Button calls.

Pot: $230

Turn: A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I bet out.

UTG folds (I'm guessing he had QQ or KK).

Button calls.

River: blank

I bet.

Button calls.

Fine, so I won the pot, whatever, the point is ... given the play...

Would you have gone for the check-raise again on the turn?

Or was this satisfactory?

Thoughts?

I would hate to give the 2 flush draws a free look here. I doubt anyone will bet this for you after you 3-bet preflop and check 3-bet the flop.

hi barron
the turn bet-out is a non-issue. you must bet the turn. you have 2 draws developing now, and you must charge your 2 opponents the fullest to draw out. the A is alone out there barron. it will not be bet if you check, and neither will the draw. you must bet.

This is where it would've been great if I had a better read on my opponents -- I doubt either was on a flush draw now, since the UTG folded to the A bet, and the button man called me down through the river on ... whatever he had.

I just love the check raise hat trick so much that I look for it after the fact as something I missed out on.

Regardless, thanks for the advice, fellas, always great to hear feedback.
