I see reference to 'Skin' now and then (in the context of Party Poker), what is it?

What is a 'Cryptologic Skin' (and is it contagious?)

I understand the term 'Skin' from the point of view that you can have different user interfaces on say, Windows media player.

But I get the feeling this is more than just the fact you can display a 4-colour deck if you want.

What am I missing?

Multiple poker sites using the same game tables. Each is a portal to the same shared group of games. You can often get a bonus from each skin.

I never knew that.

So I could be playing Party Poker at a table against 2 people who are really the same person logged on with 2 different names (with 2 different client programs)?

They track you through IPs and ISPs and your signup information. If you let a friend use your computer to play one time, they will block you from playing against each other even if he returns to his "home" computer. Bottom line, they can freeze your accounts and take your money if they catch you cheating, and you have the burden of proof to prove them wrong.

When you have 2 skins open, it will not let you take a second seat at the same table from the second skin.

Here is a recent thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=765444&page=1&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1#765444) on the topic.
