I was wonder if someone could give a quick overview of what people mean by “weak tight.” From context, it looks like it has to do with an excessively tight style of play. Why do people ever play weak tight? That is to say, where is the line between tight and weak tight?

I tried to use the search feature on this site, but I couldn’t find any post that clearly answered my question. I also mis-posted this question on the multi-table board. Please forgive new guy technical problems.

Thanks a lot.

Tight is the opposite of loose.
Loose is playing too many hands.
Weak is the opposite of Aggressive.
Aggressive is self explanitory?

So a weak tight player plays few hands, possibly too few, and then checks or folds in many situations when he should be betting, calling, or raising.

Hope I'm using accepted definitions, and helping.

ps: this i think belongs in the general poker forum.

Well, the opposite of aggressive is passive.

As I understand it: Passive = calling, weak = folding.
