Looks like Shinnecock Hills is yielding some low numbers again today. Phil Mickelson shoots a morning round 66 to lead the Open at -6. Still early in the 2nd round.

There's nothing stopping this guy now that he's won a major. Every time I've seen him on TV lately, he's brimming with confidence. Nothing succeeds like success.

The New York fans just love him. He is getting the same type of fan support he received 2 years ago at Bethpage. Hard to say how much of a factor fan support will play in his performance this week. Shaping up to be an exciting weekend though.

Great big smile on his face on the first tee yesterday and when his ball did a 360 on one hole and finally fell in. He was always a hoot, but it seems like a big burden has been lifted from him. Who's more fun to watch on tour? Maybe Shigeki comes close. One imagines he wears that green jacket to bed at night.

He's playing beautifully. And is sure looks better now that he's given up on that silly-looking putter.
