MMMMMM

After surfing some softporn sites last night, the taskbar at the bottom of my desktop disappeared, and I had to turn off the computer manually. Since it was late and I was tired, I went to sleep instead of worrying about it. Today I discovered that Netscape browser will no longer load.

A scan with Ad-Aware found two pieces of "Low-Risk" malware in the registry keys, which were promptly quarantined then deleted. Scans with Norton Antivirus Pro and Spybot S&D found nothing. I also have Spyware Blaster, which is supposed to help protect you from these types of things. After all this, though, Netscape browser still is unusable.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Have you tried reinstalling it? Also make sure Norton is up-to-date and if not, update and rescan. (Sorry if these are obvious, this is about as far as my tech knowledge goes. I'm sure someone else will have more detailed advice).

Your best bet is to reinstall Netscape. Probably one of the programs that the porn sites installed overwrote a dll file or registry setting that Netscape needs to run. Uninstalling the programs won't fix this. Reinstalling Netscape should fix it. Poor version control of library files (.dll's) is one of the things that really sucks about Windows. OTOH, I don't know of any poker sites that offer Linux or Mac clients.

Try moving your cursor around all four edges of your screen. You will probably find that you accidentally moved it to a location other than below your windows. If you discover this to be the case just left click on a blank portion of the task bar and "pull" it back down where you are used to using the taskbar.

I would reinstall netscape. One side not about spyware. I have heard from a fairly knowledgable source(ie computer nerd), that Ad-Aware actually puts some spyware on your computer. I no longer use Ad-Aware, just Spybot S&D V1.3.

Good Luck MMMMMM

P.S. be honest After surfing some softporn sites last night, , what was it really???? /images/graemlins/wink.gif

put a second hard drive on your computer or hook up a second computer to your line. use that for your forays into the unknown world. then when they get your computer, the side that you need to use is intact. then you can take all day to sort out the mess you got yourself into for no good reason.you got what you deserved. i hope you have a hard time getting it back right so you learn a good lesson. but good luck.
