I bet on sports about once in a blue moon, and only when my roommate (who consistently does well) comes up with a doozy.

I'm putting down a sizable amount on the LAL/DET 4th quarter, over 42.5 -115 on The Greek. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

My roomie said, effective, "The total for the fourth is money unless Detroit is blowing them out." Ruh-roh. The fourth was about the worst situation we could be faced with, but it still came through. I couldn't believe all the damn threes they missed in the fourth, that was agonizing!

haha I was right with you man chauncey in and out 3, kareem rush missing every 3 possible, detroit trying to slow things up. 14 points in the first 3 min and then not much. Luckily last 3 min came strong with Fish finally hitting a 3 and both teams not playing defense. Where did you bet? I bet a pinnacle but it was capped at 2k.

Holy crizzap, you bet that much? I bet $287.50 at -115 on my roommate's The Greek account. That's 'going big' for me. Well, except for the time my roommate told me to take an Ok St. under and I bet $660 to win $600, and realized I bet the over long after I had left the counter at the Reno Hilton /images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

I think I'm going to go with Pinny myself given that their lines are eight cent and dime instead of dime and twenty like most books. Do they have any Refer a friend or deposit bonuses?

unfortunately I don't think I saw a refer a friend or bonus at pinnacle. But the lines are better there so it's worth it without any incentives. The over 42.5 hovered around 1.901 to 1.97 to 1.916 gametime. At bet365 it was 1.86 all day long. I'm still kind of new to the online sports betting and like you make maybe 1-3 bets a month that look really good.

Please elaborate for me. I understand the concept of plus money and minus money in regards to a line, but need a clarification on the 1.xx line concept.

Thanks,
Dan

basically 1.901 what you get in return for each unit bet. $100 x 1.901 is your return. Midday is was 1.971 a full 7% better return so instead of getting $190 (90 profit) on a winning bet I got $197.

So, the way I'm understanding it, I bet 115 to win 100, while you bet 100 to win 197. Assuming we're wagering on the exact same proposition (over 42.5 in the fourth quarter), what logical impasse am I hitting upon? I'm confused, pathetically enough. Maybe I should go deposit that $250 before I injure myself with it or something.

"+ x amount" is considered american pricing. in europe it is done differently. for example, with american +100 is the same as 2.00 (the way they get "2.00" is if you win your bet, you will get your $1 back, plus you will win $1..hence $2).

Ahh... so 1.91 equals (200/1.91)=1.047, so approximately -105. If I got that right, there's still a pretty big difference between the -115 I got and the -105 nlfool got. But then again, five cents of that was the Pinny juice being smaller than the Greek, and five cents was just a differing line. It all makes sense now. Thanks Craig!
