The play of the 2c3c in this hand is purely maniacal.

Calling the preflop reraise is going to cost a lot in the long run (probably even in the short run), and capping is just plain silly. When the pot gets this big preflop, a showdown is pretty much guaranteed, and this is one of the worst possible hands to see a showdown with.

Betting and reraising the flop with the worst possible pair on a twotone flop is insanity when there is no chance of anyone folding a better hand or any kind of draw. The best play is to check and fold for 2+ bets, or to take 1 off if it's only 1 bet to see the turn.

The flush card on the turn finally brings some sanity with a check. As on the flop, a bet should move noone and only opens the door for some funky raises and further losses for the worst pair worst kicker.

The river bet is mandatory after making two pair, since the huge pot guarantees some very weak calls.

I would expect to lose it all eventually playing a 23s like this.

This may be the worst played hand I've ever seen on 2+2.

This thread sparked an old memory--in a private college game I played in for several years (it pretty much put me through grad school), we had a guy who always raised from EP with 72o on the theory that because it was the worst possible hand, nobody would ever put him on it. I lost track of him when he left town for law school . . . The rest of us threw a bitchin' wake.

23c is bad hand? Where did you learn that? Have you been reading poker books? What page is that on?

11-05-2001, 01:14 PM
Is English your first language? Or did you just skip school alot?

11-05-2001, 01:18 PM
You've been studying poker? How do you know so many things?

Does it help in 4-8? How long until you save up some money?

Come on guy! Count how many ways you can be beat at each stage in the hand. You could have been in serious trouble even on the river after having caught one of the few cards that would help.

You got lucky. If you can continue to catch cards like that, don't bother reading any books. By the way, if you come to Connecticut to play please let me know. I would love to observe.

Crazy Train is mocking the (very bad) play of Canuck. Duh. I thought his comments were pretty funny too.

regarding just calling the river:

"Should 23s just call here or cap it?"

regarding the starting position:

"..in the big blind.... favorite spot"

the turn check:

"Giving free cards like that!!! Nutzz!! Nobody read HPFAP??"

I was rolling. Well done Crazy Train.
