Since either no one wants to start this, or CrackerZack and Scrub are still playing No-Limit, I'll be the first to share my thoughts on this groundbreaking gathering (now it sounds important).

I won't bore everyone with all the highlights, I'd like all the participants to add their 2 cents to the thread. JTG will not be available for comment until next week, since he is moving to Barstow as we speak.

Joe Tall, JTG51 and myself left CT around 1:00 and get into AC around 6:00. It was basically a poker marathon from there. In the last 2 days, I met the following people (if I forget some names, I apologize, there were ALOT of people): Scrub, Luke, Brian 09...(sorry I forgot all the numbers and am too lazy to look), Homer, Dr Savage, AngelFish, AngelGuppy, Barry (you know you are 3rd on that list!), Bunky05...(see Brian), Mikey, Mike Gallo (good luck with the wedding, I tried to warn you!), Morgant, and Tyler Durden. Like I said, I'm sure I'm missing someone, and I apologize for doing that. Feel free to flame me for it. This is in addition to the people I have already met: MaxPower, CrackerZack, Mosch, Bottles, Jeffage, and of course JTG51 and Joe Tall. I probably missed some in this list too, but like I said, there were ALOT of people.

We were all able to enjoy dinner together Saturday night, and then a great home game in our room involving hold'em, omaha 8 or better, and crazy fox. The HOC game was pretty crazy. I got to straddle for the first time in my life, and played the hand blind to the river, calling a bet in the river. How dare Bottles call my preflop blind cap! I was obviously soon broke and on the rail. The line up for this game included JTG51, AngelFish, Morgant, Scrub, me, Homer, Dr Savage, Joe Tall, and Bottles. I think I can re-write the chapter on game selection now. I will let Homer tell his story about flopping the nuts in Omaha and what happened after.

Hopefully, Barry will post the pictures from dinner where we all can see them. Next time you fly and want to offer someone a ride, don't call Joe Tall, call me! We appreciated the phone call when you got home....2 hours before us!

It was nice to place so many names with so many faces. Hopefully we can all make the trek back to AC very soon.

Joe

AF, AG and I also had a great time meeting new friends and getting to see many old ones again too.

Once I find all the accesories to AF's new camera, I'll upload the pics to my PC. If anyone knows how to post them here either let me know or PM me their e-mail so I can send them to you.

My only regret of the weekend is having a card dead session after dinner Saturday and losing my "chip lead" to Zack who played while drinking white russians in the AM and black russians after noon.

I love the games at the Borg' and it won't take much to get me to head back down there again and I'll be glad to fly anyone from the Boston area down there.

Best of luck to JTG as he begins the new chapter of his life in Barstow.

I was totally card dead all weekend. And it may be the only time on earth that Barry and I were running bad at the same time.

I was down 40BBs in the 20 game late Saturday night, which poster Morgant witnessed first hand, then, after I the shorthanded game broke (Morg and I played 6 handed for 2+Hrs), I made a comback in a full game. Much help was in part of a couple of maniacs in the full-late-night game.

__________________________
Couple of hands versus a maniac:

Hand#1
Decent player open raises in EP, Manaic cold-calls (odd for him), I 3-bet out of the SB w/A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifK /images/graemlins/heart.gif, Decen player calls, Maniac now caps, we both call.

Flop: Q /images/graemlins/club.gif2 /images/graemlins/club.gif6 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I check, Decent player checks, Maniac bets, I check-raise, they both fold. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hand#2
Everyone folds to the Maniac who raises, all fold to me in the BB w/7 /images/graemlins/heart.gif7 /images/graemlins/spade.gif and I 3-bet, Maniac caps, I call.

Flop: 7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif8 /images/graemlins/club.gif4 /images/graemlins/club.gif

I check, maniac bets, I check-raise, maniac 3-bets, I call.

Turn: 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif

I check, Maniac bets, I check-raise, Maniac calls.

River: A /images/graemlins/club.gif

I bet, maniac calls and Mucks /images/graemlins/crazy.gif /images/graemlins/cool.gif
______________________________________

The room was dirt cheap after all the player points were added. In one weekend I built up $46 bucks in points, not too shabby as the Borgata treats it's players well.

Great meeting all the ones I have not met such as Mikey, Luke, Dr. Savage and especially Morgant who I had the pleasure to play in the same game with for 8 hours or so.

Peace,
Joe Tall

"Hey Mike. Dont sit in the $10 game today, the games are tougher today then normal"... a local says to me after I see him in the room. Having +20 members of an elite secret poker society will do that. Bush and other Yale graudates has Skull and Bones, we have Poobahs and Carpal Tunnels.

I do not have much to post about as far as poker goes. I played for 2 hours Saturday and the deck hit me in the face. I quit playing after I went up 40 big bets.:)

I enjoyed meeting everyone at dinner. I enjoyed talking to everyone and getting to know more about everyone. I can only learn so much about someone over an internet board.

One tidbit of information. JTG and I were the only left handed people there out of about 15. Strange how neither one of us consider ourselves "creative" players.

Oh, by the way,to the younguns I wasnt the second oldest poster there. Thanks for the compliment anyway.

I was the drunkest, although Zack came close /images/graemlins/smirk.gif. He started to sober up, just as I hit my drinking stride.

Again thanks to everyone for a great time. Joe U, did you ever get a cigar? I think at the next gathering someone should volunteer to have a box made up.

My personal top 5 moments about the trip

5) 20 of us in Joe's (Joe Tall) room and Joe (Joe U) calling the poker room to get everyone on a list. In the background a listener could hear the splattering of chips and a poker game in the background.

4) My friend John telling me to stay away from the $10 games.

3) Chris (Bottlesof) asking me if I really retired from playing poker.

2) Jeff (JTG51) Joe (JoeTall) and Kevin (Mosch) discussing a hand in which Jeff hit his straight against Kevins flopped set. Jeffs comment on why he didnt go to war on the flop," I knew I would hit it on the turn and I could check raise".

1)Getting drunk at dinner

I only had that 1 bad night dropping 20 BB; I was up 43 BB for the weekend as a whole. I wasn't complaining...

As I told you the Borg' has the softest 20/40 game that I have played in. Cripes Zack killed it drunk.

This trip really was something. It was wild putting so many names to faces and learning more about the people I interact with so impersonally on these boards. As usual, everyone was really friendly, and it felt like I was hanging out with old friends rather than meeting some of you for the first time.

Here are some observations/mini anecdotes about the trip tied together in no cohesive way:

Joe Tall is kind of a girlie man. He went to bed at 11PM on Friday night and then the next day took a nap in the afternoon. He ordered a salad for dinner Friday night, and I saw him eating yogurt/fruit on two separate occasions.

It was really a trip meeting Mike Gallo (MG in NJ) who has helped me so much in my development as a poker player. Mike could not have been less like I envisioned him. His posts on this board are very "elder statesman like," and he comes off as a wise, quiet and introsepctive guy. In reality, Mike is very funny, outgoing (as Homer would say, "loud") and was all about having fun and making sure everyone else was too. Congrats on the upcoming wedding, and please come back here and visit.

Some how my table at dinner (Brian07..., Homer, morgant, Dr. Savage, scrub and myself) ended up with more money than was required for the bill. How often does that happen? Especially with money grubbing, bonus whoring 2+2ers? They also persuaded me to add the "Of" back to my name. Anyway we decided to take our extra $8 and put it on the longest shot in the casino. We didn't exactly figure out how to do that and decided to put it on one spin of the roulette wheel. We decided to put it on "4," and if you can't figure out why 4, then you need to throw yourself away. Some people from the other dinner tables wanted to invest money of their own, so a few more people chipped in $2 and we ended up with close to $20, and off we went.

Imagine a dozen or so 2+2ers, and not just any 2+2ers we've got some of the big guns here, wandering around a maze of slot machinies desparately in search of a roulette wheel. It was an experience I never thought I'd be a part of. We put our money on 4, some start chanting "E-V-E-V-E-V" and wait for the ball to stop. Flop comes...BRICK, 25 or something, and we lose. No one seems to care, and we move on.

I go to JoeTall, JTG, JoeU and maybe someone else's room for the above mentioned home game. It took about 15 minutes for 2+2's best and brightest (I am of course excluding myself from this group) to figure out how to arrange the beds and table to accomidate 8/9. "Don't worry, we're engineers" says JTG after it looks like JoeTall might drop a queen size bed.

The game gets going but more 2+2ers show up than the room can handle. CrackerZack and mosch decide to play a $40 heads up sng on the floor next to us. They take some of the green chips we aren't using for the home table game but find they don't have enough chips. No worries, Zack (I think) pulls out a few fistfulls of Borgata $25 chips, which are of the same color, and the two begin.

The two games were hysterical, and I'll let someone with a better memory pick up from there.

I ended up about +$300 for the trip playing 6/12 and 10/20, but for me, the highlight was meeting and hanging out with the 2+2 gang. I hope another get together of this magnitude happens soon.

All the best,

Bottles

Ok young one. First of all, it was after mindnight not 11, someday when you get a real job you may see 6AM and NOT be in a casino, and when you KNOW you HAVE to sleep on the floor the next night, you have to cash a good sleep in the night prior. In addition, I did take a nap as I decided the floor was not an option and played through the entire night Saturday from 9PM to 3PM Sunday, this is what all those natural vitamins from fruits and vegtables can do for you, UNSTUCK you. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hi Mason,

I think it would be tough to get 20-something east coast 2+2ers out to Vegas at the same time. However, if you were coming out here, I'm positive that the 20-something 2+2ers would find a way to meet up like this again.

We're all just looking for a reason to have another trip like this! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice trip.

My highlights include:

1) Meeting all you people.
2) Hearing Borgata floor announce "DrSavage, please come to the front desk".
3) Destroying the home game for 40 BB having no clue about what I'm doing.
4) Playing 10-20 having two people on my right limp every hand without looking.
Negative highlights included cellphones barely working in the Casino and not working in the poker room at all making meeting 2+2ers complicated, Borgata using blackjack cards for poker (wtf) and a trip home where i barely escaped totaling the car.

It was great meeting you all. Let's do it again.

This was good stuff. I overheard this and thought that it was strange, funny it was a page for you. Was it scrub that paged you?

Barry, on a BB basis I think I had the chip lead. I won 71 BB in the 10/20 and 8 BB in the 20/40. That might even beat Zack if you don't include craps /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'd like to say it was some brilliant poker, but I just had a lot of good hands that held up.

I lost $200 in the no limit game (most of it to Scrub and Zack). I have no clue what I'm doing at NL.

This being my first time playing 20/40, I was shocked at how soft the game was. Other than you there was not a player in the game who worried me.

I had a great time meeting everybody, from the small guns to the "big guns" as Bottles calls them.

For me, it was the first time meeting most of you and I found it really interesting to put a face to some of the names and online personalities of this forum that I read so religiously.

Everybody was cool and friendly. I wish I had a chance to play with more of you but at least I got to run my AA into MaxPower's AK /images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

If there's ever a gathering like this again, I hope to be able to make it.

Hi all,

Much like the others have already said this was a great time had by me and most others I think. Dinner was great and the picture was a very cool finishing touch. A couple of highlights for me was meeting JTG, hearing mosch tell someone who had called his cell phone that he was busy and "in the middle of a SNG right now". Of course he was playing HU on the floor aganist Zack on the 29th floor of the Borgata and finally Homer flopping the nuts in an Omaha hand, laying it down for the table to see and then having JT raise his flop bet. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

It was great to meet you all. I look forward to the next time and finally GL in Cali JTG.

I really wish you 3-bet. That would have been the funniest hand of all. Once DrSavage called Homer's bet I'd figured I'd get some money in and knock out a higher set if need be.

Didn't work. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

However, Homer missing all those bets on the turn made up for it.

What a weekend. I was a shell of a man on sunday, and worse on monday. The ridiculousness of my hangover didn't hit until about 7:30 on monday when we were eating dinner with Scrub and his princeton crew and on my second trip to the buffet, i felt like i was gonna faint.

maxpower did beat me in the BB game. the 50 he won the first night in about 4 hours certainly would do that. Its hard for me to figure out my total as it all gets fuzzy. that's the fun of it.

My highlights:
1) Chip stacking contest with Barry, he won in height, but my foundation had some nice green for an overalll win.

2) Chip stacking round two where i was promptly destroyed. But the order of action went me, Barry, Tyler so you couldn't really beat that.

3) Dinner was great and came together pretty easily considering we had 20 or so, and no reservation in the only place were going to in AC.

4) The room SnGs where there were 20 green borgata chips in play long with 30 of JoeTall's set. Too bad I lost both.

5) Heading back to the poker room from the SnGs, seeing the craps table, and cementing my place as the greatest craps player alive. Mosch is close behind, but I am still the greatest.

6) mini NL game. Good god. Where to begin. Flopping sets is fun. Losing 900 pots is probably less fun if you can remember it, luckily I don't. "Guy! easy guy! guy! easy guy!" -morgant

Sunday I was barely alive. Sorry I didn't stop to say good bye to the remaining people. I won only about 45 BBs in limit, and about 60 BBs in NL I guess.

It was great meeting everyone, especially the new people, morgant, tyler, savage, princeton crew, IRCers Lupin and Wakko, AngelGuppy, and I think that covers it, although i'm sure i forgot someone. As usual, I had a tremendous time, did -EV things, and lucked out doing them. Count me in for the next one.

Who is who?

Back row - morgant, Homer, JTG

Next row down - Angel Fish, Barry, BottlesOf, brian0729

Next row down - scrub, Luke, MaxPower

Next row down - scrub's friend, scrub's friend, Cracker Zack's gf, mosch, Tyler Durden (sitting on rail)

Next row down - Cracker Zack, Dr. Savage, Mike Gallo (MG in NJ)

...sorry for anyone's name I got wrong or didn't know.

EDIT - ...and as I mentioned to JTG just before the picture was taken, I have no idea how this is possible, but I somehow manage to look even less attractive in pictures than in real life.

3. scrub, Luke, MaxPower

My highlights.

- Winning $1000 in the 10/20 game on Friday night. That was my first 1K session, a goal I have been close to before but always came up short.

- Playing craps with Zack and Mosch. I was being a wimp and only betting the pass line and the odds bet. They were betting the hardways, etc. We all won.

- Losing my craps profits to Zack and Mosch in a limit SNG. My main strategy was to straddle everytime I had the button, but I still was first out. A highlight of this was when Mosch bet the river dark and I raised in the dark - he had me outkicked. The hand that really hurt me was when I raised Mosch on the river, called his 3-bet, showed my hand and said that I had a straight when all I had was bottom pair. I blame alcohol.

- Playing 20/40 for the first time.

- Playing in the no limit game with Scrub, CrackerZack and Mosch. Zack was talking a mile a minute and entertaining everyone at the table. Well, not everyone was entertained, some were put on tilt by the relentless chatter. The guy on my right turned to me and said, "I can't wait to get my hands on that guy's stack." CZ was drinking Black Russians. Since the waitress wouldn't let him order 2 drinks at a time, he asked her to put them in extra large glasses and he was tipping her $5 each time.

I have played there for a year and I forgot where to find a roullete table.

Hi Buckshot:

David and I do not take part in the BARGE events. However, I would probably be available for lunch or dinner during that time if a group of posters wanted to get together. (This assumes that I'm in town and right at the moment I expect this to be the case.)

Best wishes,
Mason

Nice to see that you aren't all a bunch of freaks. Sorry I missed you on your trip to our glorious Borgata. I'll be in town in August, too, so you all should come down again!

1)Next time we do this can we have a little more lead time, Id love to have been there
2)With enough time I could most likely get a private tourney set up (almost like an "Not an officially sponsered2+2arge" /images/graemlins/laugh.gif)
3)Amazing how I dont think Ive played with any of you, where do you all play?? (aside from a little 3-6 with joe tall, and 10 minutes of whatever it was with Homer)

Man, I haven't heard it called that since college. I was thinking about "East side" and gangs until you pointed that out. Sweet.

That would have been great! Maybe half omaha - half crazy fox?

Too bad we missed you. I'm sure this was not the last trip we'll all take.

a little late on my trip recap. but it twas a grand ole affair. great finally puting faces to screenames. MG, i am a lefty as well, and pointed it out during the room game, remember that JTG wears his watch on the wrong hand for a lefty(god created a few perfect people, the other's were righty). friday night, i attempted to get in touch with JTG and Doc. Savage to no avail. I finally broke down and paged Dr. Savage to the front...hahah, after the fact i realized it could have sounded like an almost legit name. Within in seconds, 2+2ers were popping out of the woodwork, i met, Doc, Bottles, Cracker Zack...to name a few. Morgant went his own way and played an all night session of baby NL till 8am.

At this point i needed a hotel that would allow me to check in now and stay till sunday, the flamingo(i think) it was, what a classy joint. I arrived back at the borgata around 6pm and jumped in a 10/20 game, unbeknownst to me, I was sitting directly across from Angel fish, after barry walked by and exchanged a little more than pleasantries with her, I assumed they were 'an item'. I went off to dinner with the 20+ gang and was introduced to the whole lot. Quite a crew and a pleasure to meet and hang out with. After our failed attempt at the roulette wheel, i entered and 20/40 game that was already occupied by the infamous Joe Tall. I got smacked with the deck, and boards to match, so it turned out to be a grand little session for me. Table broke and i played some baby nl again. My play in this game is ummmmm, how do i say it, LOOSE/AGGRESSIVE. I got lucky and was able to double up on my first table before i head over to play with a drunk life philosophizing cracker zack and his wingman Scrub. Scrub almost got me removed from the game for coming over with way over the maximum buy-in.....No hard feelings scrub, i understand your nervousness when we are even-stacked, so it was a smart play by you /images/graemlins/wink.gif. I coughed up most of my double up by chasing a set into an obvious flush....Dems da breaks.

Cracker is pondering how severly his fiance is going to kick his arse for still gambling at this hour (5am???no clue) especially since she left early that night due to his lack of paying her attention. I had a brilliant idea. Zack go up to the room, get in your jammies, walk in and flush toilet, hop in the sack and it was like you were in bed with her the whole night. Zack in his state thought i came up with an idea on Einsteinian proportions. Too bad our evil plan was thwarted when his lovely girlfriend showed up in the poker room looking for blood. I calmly asked him, if he still wanted the seat he had just locked up in the 20/40 game!!! Hahahah, hope she let you have it for that...Sorry mate.

The man, the myth the legend Joe Tall came to our table at this point and said there is a certified maniac at his 20 game right now. I was there in a flash. And this table was like the psych ward from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Joe Tall obviously being the tall indian Chief. Joe was really doing some damage on this table and i took a few early pots, then began bleeding. He and I proceeded to play this table all day, he is a great guy and it was fun playing with him, when he left at 3pm he gave me a few pointers that he noticed in my game. I incorporated these into my play and picked up some bets due to them....Thanks Joe /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

The 20 game was fishy and great until around 8pm when most tourists were gone and i was faced with half a table of very competent players, i bled back some of the days profits but continued to play. I finally called it a session at around 1am after playing for over 24hours straight.

Usually when i cash out i like to keep even amounts and the rest goes to black jack. For instance, if i have 2115, 115 goes to 21...etc. Well tonight is no exception, i entered the black jack game with 115 and worked myself up to 800 before i finally entered a deep slumber around 3am...Whew long azz day/days...

Can't wait for the next meeting.

I am completely sorry for missing the dinner, the home game and the lot.

I am extremely busy this time of year and had to work the 12 hour shift on Saturday. I did call Joe Tall right about the time they were sitting down for dinner and told him I'd be dwn in about an hour.

I got to the poker room at about 8:30 or so.

Sat in a 6-12 played perfect hold'em and dropped 10BB. Its all good. I didn't pay off those fish.

It was so nice to see you all again, those I have met and those I just met.

Mike Gallo. Always a pleasure so see you again. Best of luck with all your future endeavours.

Scrub. Great to see you and we need to hook up a few more times before you bolt out west.

Joe Tall. Great to see you. I'll be getting up for my first trip to foxwoods sometime this fall. Hopefully you can find some time to catch up with me then.

Zack. You are an absolute pleasure to be around (tell anyone else I said that and i'll deny it /images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
Sorry you were in the doghouse though. Rushes in poker are good but rushes at craps ROCK!!!

Max Power. Hope you beat the living daylights out of that 20 game. Great to see you agin, albeit briefly. We'll catch up soon.

Barry. I said hello briefly on the way out when you were sitting in the 20 game wth max. Nice to put a name with a face.

JoeU. Great to meet you man! Take good care of that little one! Glad you had a great time. Sorry I couldn't hang out longer.

BottlesOf. Nice to finally meet you Chris. We've had some lock up jam up pots before and have had some good theory discussions. You better not be a stranger. Oh and quit picking on JoeTall's eating habits.
Ask Scrub what I had for dinner the first time we hooked up.!

JTG51. Jeff. great to finally meet up with my captain. Even though I major sucked at HULA. (You were nice enough not to beat me up for wasting your 4th round draft pick) Best of luck out west . I'm glad we got to meet. Go Huskies.

Mosch: Nice to see you again Kev. Always a fun guy to be around. I hope to see you when i come up to foxwoods. Take care and stay laggy.

I'm sorry I missed some of you (Morgant, Tyler, and Dr. Savage.) But work called. I had to open the shop Sunday Morning at 7am and I left the Borg at 1 AM.

Thanks to all. See you soon.

Jeez, I had a hard enough time figuring how to get 1 up. Since these are 1.8 MB, I'm not sure that I can set them all up.

I'll try to work on it.

I suck at trip reports, so I'll just do highlights.

meeting lots of new people.

seeing lots of people i rarely see.

craps. sweet, sweet craps.

the room game sit and gos (the limiit one was epic)

the friday night 15/30 game. holy christ, i LOVE that game. it made party 15/30 seem like a tough game.

having an older floorperson come over to me and say "Sir, sir, don't even go there", when he thought I was in an argument with CrackerZack and Scrub. (they were trying to get me to play drunkenly NL until the wee hours of the morning.... it worked.)

getting drunk, running over a 6/12 and laying out beats that would make the baby jesus cry.

playing in a 10/20 with $20 chips, and considering it a raise/fold situation if it came to me as either $10 or $30 to go.

more craps.

seeing far more 2+2ers than I'd ever imagined might show up when I first fit the trip into my schedule. it was a great time.

morgant,

I had a blast playing in that fishy 20 game. The funniest thing of the wee-hours is when you made the str8 on the river, raised and before the other player could get all his chips to call, you flipped over your cards, put a $1 chip on them as a tip as you yelled, "YATZEE!" /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Too bad our evil plan was thwarted when his lovely girlfriend showed up in the poker room looking for blood.

I was walking by the table when Vespa was walking in, I walked right by here expecting her to say hello, but, no. She had laser beams coming out of her eyes and they were burning a hole on Zack's head as he was saying, "All-in", priceless.

Peace,
Joe Tall
