I was in a single table 20$ buy-in tournament online. It was down to the last four and I was in third.
(1st- 4500 2nd-2600 me-2500 4th- 900)Estimate
Blinds were 75-150
The guy in 2nd had been chip leader for a while and just took a bad beat on the river.
I was delt 44 and was in the small blind. Both in front of me folded and I put in the 75 for the blind and raised 350. The person (2nd place) in the big blind called the raised.
The flop came q j a.
I checked it to him and he checked.
Turn was a 4 (which gave me a set)
I checked it to him. He raised me 300.
I shot 300 back at him.
He goes all in.
At this points I think he has either made two pair on the flop or possible have a straight.
I call and he flips over k 10(for the straight)
The river didn't help and he took my chips
How should I have played this hand?
I think I should have made a small bet after the flop to see where he was at and he probably would have re-raised me, and I would have folded.
