I have been reading and posting on this site for a few months now and have been unable to figure out what a lot of the stats posters use here mean. I am not mathmatically inclined and have not, as of yet purchased Poker Tracker.

Before coming to this site, the only formula I was used to seeing when guaging my poker results was BB per hour.

Can somebody point me to a thread or FAQ that will explain all of the stats that are used on this site? BB/100, VP$IP, table hours and any others.

Thanks,

bb/100 is big bets won per 100 hands played - from what i gather this is a more reliable stat than bb/hour.

VP$IP is voluntarily put money in the pot.

download pokertracker for free and take a look at it, you can import 1000 hands into it before you have to register it. its a very nice piece of software and if you play online it will significantly improve your play. well worth the money, as you use it more and read about it more on the forums you can post your stats and can adjust your play based on those. I recently posted my stats and had people tell me I was too loose on the river, taking hands too far, not folding soon enough not value betting enough on the river.

I have since adjusted my play and my bb/hour and bb/100 have skyrocketed.
