Fairly unknown opponent but I had noticed he was a little too loose. Do you value bet the river or check-call?

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6/images/graemlins/club.gif, 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG calls, MP folds, Button folds, SB folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (2.50 SB) 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 4/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

Turn: (2.25 BB) T/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

River: (4.25 BB) 3/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

Final Pot: 6.25 BB
Main Pot: 6.25 BB, between Hero and UTG. > Pot won by Hero (6.25 BB).

Results in white below:
Hero shows 6c 2s (two pair, fours and twos).
UTG shows 9h Ad (one pair, fours).
Outcome: Hero wins 6.25 BB.

I bet, his just calling tells me ace high. I think he would have raised at some point if he could beat a pair of 2s.

I think either option is acceptable and will equal out in the long run...

Your bet will get called by more ace highs (by people that will call the river bet but not bet it themselves with ace high), but your check will result in busted flush draws to bet more.

If you know this guy raises flush draws on the flop or turn, then I say bet because it's more likely he has ace high. But, you don't know enough about him yet, so either choice is equal IMO.
