Average Poker Hand

Something I've always wondered.. and feel like I SHOULD know this... but I don't.


What is the average (median) five card stud poker hand?

without any calculation, i would guess that somewhere around A-K would be the average. ie, if you were given ace-king every time, you'd proabably win about half the time against 5 random cards.

The median five card stud poker hand is A-K-Q-J-8.
