The stupidest things written about poker can normally be found on forums. 2+2 is not innocent. Morons like me that think they know what they are talking about, and spout off about it.

This artical is an opinion that poker is boring, and its perfectly logical, and kinda funny. I do not share his opinions, but he mapped them out well to get a good laugh.

It's not an oppinion peice to be agreed with or disagreed with anymore than a Saturday Night Live fake commercial is for a real product. It's a JOKE!

BettnTibetn, it's called a joke. I live in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area and Dave Barry is a very entertaining writer and with all the normal death and destruction in todays papers it's nice to see something enlightening once in a while so, Chill Out!

I love Dave Barry's columns and I own a couple of his books.

Another great piece. Nothing to get mad about here.

You are right that he doesn't know much about poker.... still I love his attitude, especially at the end where he compares it to pulling the lever on the slot machine. As long as people keep thinking (and playing) this way the games will be profitable.

This was posted on another thread yesterday. I thought it was hilarious.

One of my biggest pet peeves regarding the poker world is that poker players tend to take themselves way too seriously. Any pokerplayer who can't laugh at himself or herself once in a while really needs to find another hobby/profession.

You know, I've been playing poker for a while now, and posting here for a while now, but I've yet to get fitted for that stick-up-the-butt that seems to be a requirement for poker players.

I guess that just shows that I'll never be a great poker player. Got too firm a grip on my sense of humor.

Hey didn't we get PC'd out of using the term moron?

edit: Oh, no wait that was a completely different outdated psychological term...

For those who liked it he wrote a pretty funny book about a casino cruise that I enjoyed called Tricky Business.

Dave Barry is a real hoot to read. You can also catch a movie based on a book of his called "Big Trouble". It is pretty funny. A bit offbeat - like his writing.

that is a great movie. Tim Allen and Rene Russo. Best scene is when they are driving to the airport and cannot decide whether to go to departure because they are leaving or arrival because they will later be arriving. Priceless.
BTW I loved this article. He has my kind of humor.
