Getting my SH game in order - the value bet is key when playing at the micrlimits from what I hear... how much can one trust reads, and is this a good example of value bets or just LAG-tastic play?

Pokerroom.com $0.50/$1.00 5max (5handed)

CO is pretty straightforward, and from what I had seen would raise Ax hands with x > 8, KQ, AA/KK/QQ, pretty passive otherwise. I’ve been at the table for awhile and have a pretty good handle on everyone. SB is the same maniac from the other posts.

not common to find a value bet at the end with AK unimproved but i think this is a decent line in a game where worse hands will commonly call you down - check/call on the river is good too if your opponent is dumb enough to bluff a lot

Overcard plays like this go up significantly in value when your opponents number 2 or less, or where you can get better hands (like pocket 44 or 3rd pair) to fold. HU this play is fine.
