Need some advice on what to do during bad runs while playing. I have gone from 85$ to 27$ in less than 2 days. Some bad plays and some bad beats. I normally play .50/1 at party or, 5+1, 10+1 SNGs. The best hands I have seen PF are QQ,KK both beaten by pocket AA, quad 2s beaten by quad As, and yeah thats all I can remember.

Even in SNGs, I have played throughout without playing single hands except for my BB, finally going all-in short stacked with suited cards or any Ace and getting busted out. Well, in one I came second.

Any advice is appreciated.

Oh yeah, I am already taking the weekend off, visitng Aunt, anything else for bad runs?

I whine a lot and worry that my last 25,000 hads were pure luck.

HOWEVER - I just tighten up a ton and wait for things to turn.

Down 60 BBs is not even close to a bad run yet though - sorry.

If you are getting beat by fish - just keep tellign yourself that it's the only way they know how to play and REALLY - it will pay you off IN THE LONG RUN.

If it's bad luck - well - that will change also.

Just hang in there - It's the bad runs that define how good you are at poker. Remember - they happen to EVERYBODY.

if a 58BB downswing is really that frustrating to you then perhaps poker isn't for you.

I had a just over a 100 BB downswing over 4 days, I looked at my play, started to question my plays. I looked at what hands were the biggest losers and found some improvements. On the fifth day I had a 130+ BB rush. Your bankroll is pretty small even for .5/1 and when you throw in SNG 10+1 you could bottom out pretty easy. 100 BB downswings aren't super uncommon. 200 BBs can happen, rare, but can, I've even heard from a great player he had a 400 BB swing once. What I do is either drop down a level to start to feel that winning feeling again, then moving up again, maybe 1:3 tables of the limit higher limit to smaller one. If you are truly a winning player and you are getting some harsh beats, it will come back to you. Good luck. Just had another 130+ BB day wahoo!

I use my position of authority in the micro forum to make cutting but accurate remarks about the decisions of inexperienced players.

I scream at the monitor a lot and throw things against the wall. However, this doesn't seem to help much. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I actually don't think there is anything you can do, a bad beat will upset you while you're new to the game. The best way is to have the experience to deal with it. Honestly, it gets easier.

Tosh is 100% correct - it DOES get easier. AS soon as I realized that bad beats really do happen to EVERYBODY and the guy that beat you with is 72o was playing the only way he knows how to play - it got easier.

There are a couple chapters in "Killer Poker Online" by John Vorhaus called Mood Management and Mind Magagement that are gold and after reading them something clicked and I have been way way more calm (during the game)in bad streaks.

The book is not THAT great and is redundant on many things but as we all know - everybook has SOMETHING that you can use.

I re-consider suicide as a plausible alternative.

i find that watching horrible movies while playing ~ 2 tables helps increase my EV (thanks dell 2001fp). for instance, I was watching kill bill vol. 1 (good movie) and had a 42 BB slide one night, the very next night I watched independence day and was up 70ish BB by the time it was over. the best part is, there are always new lines to use when you suck out on someone, like "welcome to earth!!" or whatever you want. i rented freddy vs. jason to bust out the next time i'm running bad, i was considering several of ben stiller's new movies but i'm wondering if they just go too far..
