Should I be capping this thro?

On this table we have a player who fancies himself as tricky (FancyMan) but he really isn't. Next to him is a confusing player who I have not really got a grip on yet, he could be good or appalling, he is certainly aggressive but how loose/tight I do not know yet as most of his hands have been won without a SD.

The PF cold-call and re-raise from FancyMan was just for laughs, but the River CR had me worried about T8 (if he was mad enough to raise this PF) or JJ after the previous action (esp. raising from blinds). I would certainly have raised a bet and called a 3-bet. What you say about a River CR? Was I right to slow down or am I just yeller?

My thoughts went: He must have 2 pair but he can't have 3 bet J9 preflop. So I looked. And then laughed.

Indeed, there is much amusement in this hand, I just wish I could have seen Button's (PF 2-cold call/3-bet-cap) cards as well. I'm guessing two /images/graemlins/diamond.gif.

Oh yeah, 3-bet that river.

Doesn't it seem likely that the BB has JJ?
I mean, Hero must be better than 2/3 to make that 3-bet, no?

Hmmmm...the question really is, without a clear read on a player, do you still 3-bet this CR every time? Clearly he was deranged - but it was this hand which confirmed that. Previously, he had shown down some legitimate hands and raised people out of a few. My read was not strong. When is the right time to slow down against a player who could be good or could be mad? Mad player - obviously cap the whole way, but where should the line be drawn, or do I dispense with the pencils?

If I 3-bet this and it is capped (likely) it's a bit late to start thinking "uh-oh". I thought "uh-oh" after the Turn and figured I should get another 2-bets in on the River and see what he does. This was not a random hand I was against, he clearly had something, the least of which was 2-pair...
