suggested monitor/laptops?

I'm looking to buy a laptop because I need it for work- but I'm worried that the monitor will be too small, so I'm thinking of buying a separate monitor for playing on partypoker. Do people have suggestions? What kind of monitor and resolution do people use? What kind of advice to people have that exclusively use laptops?

If you buy a laptop you should be able to link up whatever monitor you use on your current desktop as a second monitor.

That I know...I was wondering if people had specific suggestions for monitors if I wanted to buy a new one- my current one is a bit iffy
