ROFL

I have an alibi. I was out playing with Dynasty, Mikey and David Ottoson. What'd she do? I could use the laugh.

I was at her 2/4 PP off and on between 8 and midnight. She was too loose, too passive, she showed her cards after taking a beat, she coldcalled with KJ offsuit.

She was also up at least 50 bb.

But mostly I'm pissed about this:

"weak tight laydown" there? /images/wink.gif And yes I played it poorly... Biggest pot I've seen yet at 2/4.

Ironically considering davidross's post and my own troubles the past week I went and played 5/10 soon after and won 15 bets, heh.

I watched that game for a short minute to see what was going on....I also saw her win a pot with KJo on the button.......only thing wrong with the play was that she cold called a non-steal position raise....I almost said something but decided against it....

Heh - Sounds exactly like her.

You know how you got to a point early in your poker playing where you decided you were comfortable and finally knew what you needed to know? Then 2 months later you looked back and decided that person (the 2 months ago "you") was an idiot? She's at that first point.

She's more or less fired me from giving her advice because its not fun to play the way I tell her to. I also told her she's not ready for the 1-2 tables let alone the 2-4. She didn't like that either.

But she's been on a rush, so this reinforces what she's thinking. All I can do right now is let her keep playing til she bottoms out her account. Until then, the concept of "theoretical profit" and "you may have won but you shouldn't have played the hand" don't make sense to her.

Needless to say, its very frustrating. Its also the height of irony that several of her opponents listen to my advice but she doesnt.

Thanks for the post though. I like to know that I'm not the only one with that perception of her game.

BTW - last night, I went to bed and asked if she bad beat anyone last night. She said she wasn't sure...I asked if she played with "vehn"? She goes..."OH, the tight guy!" and then told me about the hand you posted. LOLOL. I can only wish she played as tight as the "tight guy".

Anyways....be nice to her fellows. That doesn't mean take it easy on her...just be nice to her.

Anybody feel like a $1/$2 PP game is like a $6/$12 or $10/$20 Brick and Mortar game?

2/4 PP is tougher than 5/10 at the Taj, Atlantic City.

I remember the first time I felt I really "grokked" poker. This was, of course, accompanied by a nice series of wins right as I bought into PP for the first time, about a month after I started playing in December of last year. I had just started reading this site, and received my first books. I remember specifically reading some post somewhere, where somebody said something like "I look for the games with loose players who play crap like KJo UTG" and I remember thinking, "Why would you ever muck KJ UTG?". Hah...

She's right, though. Its not "fun" to play full ring game poker the "right" way, as a matter of fact, its hard work. But there's a beauty to playing it "right" and it comes from the pleasure of mucking AQ when the UTG rock raises, a kid behind you coldcalls, and calls the rock down on an A high flop and disgusting mucks his AJ when shown AK. Even when I haven't played a hand for an hour I'm having a good time - and last night was nuts, prior to that AKs hand I played nothing for 4 orbits, just total garbage.

Well my first buyin of $50 on PP went up in smoke on the .5/1 tables, of course. So did the 2nd. The 3rd, though, stuck, and has so far. So who knows? I'm at the point in my poker career where the 2 months ago me isn't as experienced, or knowledgeable, but isn't an idiot, at least compared to the current one - and is a helluva lot poorer. Just be happy your GF likes your hobby - mine rolls her eyes when I tell her my stories and thinks I'm an idiot for having a thousand bucks more or less permanently sitting in some Costa Rican server farm (and more in my desk or wherever I'm hiding it this month), when, you know, I could be spending it on her /images/wink.gif
