This hand is from a $50+5 NLHE no rebuy tournament at a club in NYC. (For a general trip report on my experience, go here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=cardroom&Number=719100&For um=,All_Forums,&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main= 719100&Search=true&where=&Name=3376&daterange=&new erval=&newertype=&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#P ost719100)).

The tournament started with 14 players, 7 at each table. Our table has lost one player, so we're down to 6. Each player started with T800. I presently have T1250.

Folded around to Hairy Girl (HG). (She had very hairy arms.) She has about T1000.

HG's default play seems to be to raise in the CO or on the button when it's folded to her to steal the blnds. Generally, she's been raising 2x or 3x the BB.

Blinds are 50-100. Folded to HG, who raises to T200. I am in the BB with 9/images/graemlins/club.gif9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.

After her raise, HG has T800 left. I have T1150 after posting the BB.

Your move?

I'm moving in here and not thinking much of it no matter what she does. It is the only play here IMO.

OK, let's assume hypothetically that I suck and called. The flop comes T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 2/images/graemlins/club.gif.

At this point, I have T1050, HG has T800. The pot is T450.

Your move?

Check-raise all-in. Consider folding if she moves in on the flop after you check, but if she bets in the 300 range, move in.

Sorry, I disagree with your check-raise. I do agree that a push pre-flop would have been the correct move, but calling with the intention of pushing on any flop would be my 2nd choice. I say push here, rather than let HG be the aggressor.

That's my 2 cents,

Push pre-flop. Since you didn't, push the flop.

Isn't this a good spot for a stop n' go?

What happens when the flop comes w/ 2 overcards? Do you feel that confident about pushing? Only a better pair will call you at that point, at least this way you are getting your money in while you're a small favorite (most likely) and still have the possibility of taking the pot here.

Continuing the botching of the hand, I bet 300. HG quickly (and I mean, real quickly) went all-in.

Call or fold? It costs me another 500 to call.

Fold.

I thought for about a minute and folded. HG showed 25o for a blind steal gone horribly right.

I managed to place 2nd in this tournament, which is more indicative of the skill level (or lack thereof) of my opponents than my sharp NL play.
